i know thats not liao i read chinese boxing i know how he looks.

and no i know my fist would;ve bounced off like everyone else's. but just to say i tried would've been cool.

i thank wang shu chin was the last of the greats. you really don;t see to many real masters like that who could whip your ass in a second without thinking and made so many people believers in chi.

Wang Shujin is off-topic but I think it's worthwhile to discuss so I will start a thread for it. :)

i've seen several videos from emptyflower.com of liao's monkey fist which looks real effective for people his size, its lighting fast but has a look of power to it as well. its not tai shing pek kwar its totally defferent from that.

The monkey form is one of the form in southern Tai Tzu system. Master Liao used to perform the form in public, it is one of his trade mark. Every time when he performed by himself, he did that form. I watched him doing that form many times when I was young.

How extensive was his Tai Tzu Monkey system. Did he know the 8 Northern forms too?

i recon he did if thats one of the forms, because he was a master of the system. he just created his ownb monkey system as well.but from what i'm told its mostly effective for people who are small in stature like he was.

There are two separate systems, each have 8 forms (I am told). The Southern is what we see Liao Wuchang do, however there is another Northern Monkey that is part of some Northern Tai Tzu traditions as well.

Many Tai Tzu masters are collectors and know both the Northern styles, and the Southern too. They are different styles though and not necessarily inclusive of each other.

So did he create the form or is it from the Southern Taizu style?

As I understand it, it is Southern Tai Tzu.

Here is the thing though, there is southern Tai Tzu, AND a related Monkey style that is usually paired with Southern Tai Tzu. Liao Wuchang taught BOTH styles.

I think Stone Killer Monkey is the combination of the two systems in his own unique way. I could be wrong though, I have heard conflicting stories.

The other version I have heard is that Stone Killer Monkey is his personal version of the Southern Tai Tzu monkey system. I have video of him doing Southern Tai Tzu Quan, so I KNOW he knew that as well.

Some people consider the Southern Tai Tzu, and it's matching Monkey the SAME system, and the Monkey is just the animal portion of the style.

Research is still needed, but that is the various Jists of it.
