Is that the shaolin set that came from Yuen Hai's wife? or is that a CLF set?

Thats the Shaolin Internal form passed down from Yuen Hai's wife.

I've been told it's SOOOO shaolin, but i see CLF in it......i mean we do clf, and its been clfi-itized by us.

not really CLF originated. but i think CLF modified over time.

Well CLF has shaolin roots so it would make sense that some things would be similar.

that set is actually done ALOT slower. takes forever when you do that.

some good fighting stuff in it.

Is it actually supposed to be slow or is that just how your line plays it? I remember you saying something about the school always demostrating forms with a slow style.

its an internal form. it's done slowly on purpose.........however i've seen it done fast too.

i remember seeing my sisooks soaking in sweat just doing this form once at the proper speed set for this form.

I think I have DFWs book on this set and yeah it is really, really long.

well the old way was to do our forms slowly for demonstration.

i was told, do it slow, let the people see what you doing. its intended to show the technical aspects too.

but remember, with no one to inspire us for a long time, and never going into competitions.......we just did it slow for a longtime. see, we understand you can do the form slow and soft, but with what i call "SOFT INTENT."

theres even a move taken out cause its too darn hard to do.

you see the part where he balances on one leg facing to the floor......the move taken out is the exact opposite of the move. upper body facing the sky.

and yeah its a long arse form.

I know about the inside joke on the monkey thingy......

but there's no monkey that i know of in our CLF.

actually, we have some techqniques within our staff that mentions monkey.

GM DFW has a vid on this too. I have it, and it's so funny when he makes Jason do the one leg drop thing, because he makes him do it super slow, and is explaining the technique while you can clearly see Jason struggling at the bottom of the technique. Must be a hard life having GM DFW as a dad.

true, but i have others doing it very very slow too...........it's harder in my opinion when you control going down.....then rising at the same speed.

But he just sort of leaves him there. I don't care how it's done. This technique is ROUGH.
