I would do that but I’m not planning on starting anything until about a month or so after Christmas so At the moment i would rather just research a bunch of schools and there instructors and find which ones are best.... for me at the present time

If you want Shotokan with some AAU(?) competition orientation, I'd be hard-pressed to recommend anyone else.
