In the NACMAF days there was a guy called Ghetto Fu!
He had students, forms, and everything. He was this big muscle bound brother that walked around in a black and white frog button kung fu outfit with a big rattan rice worker (not a slight on rice workers) hat on.
He had pants that would spell GHETTO down the side of each pant leg and FU on his butt. It was crazy. Haven't heard from him/them since 92 or 93 when Ghetto Fu fought Mike Sutton in the san shou division and got worked. Several other people on the forum have fought or seen him before as well.

yeah, you had to see it to believe it - when i first saw him I thought it was a joke, but no, the guy was dead on serious...

I was there the time he dumped a certain Eagle Claw practitioner on his back - all you heard was everyone in the crowd go "oooh"; but that was a no-no, so he got disqualified; and then when he went to do the full contact stuff - I think it was the following year? - he got his head handed to him

in a way, I miss those days - you just couldn't get away with that anymore;

I miss NACMAF: Sifu Tai Yim put on one hell of a tourney!

Speaking of somewhat ghetto things kung fu related:

At Taiji Legacy in 2000, A big brawl broke out during the San Da division at the end of the first day. One of Sifu Tat Mau Wong's students was there as well, who is now a Sifu himself. I forget his last name, but his first name is Jeff.
Anyway, there was a Muay Thai/kickboxing school there that was only there to fight full contact.
There was no ring, they just put those puzzle-matt type padding to create a ring on the floor. One of the Thai boxing school guys wouldn't stop when the ref yelled break, so the other corner started yelling at the other's corner. The infraction happened again, and all hell broke loose. No one got really hurt that I could see, but it was a great few minutes to watch. All the old HK Sifus were sitting back laughing like crazy.
Everybody was kung fu fighting!
