The Passing of Great Grandmaster Tarm Sarm’s last surviving Disciple

On Monday the 17th of December 2007 at 8:30 am, 2nd Generation Buck Sing Elder Lun Chee passed away in Calgary at the age of 98.

Master Dave Lacey was the first person to be notified of his passing and has the sad task to pass the news onto his Sifu, The Buck Sing Fraternity and the Choy Lay Fut family.

Revered Elder Lun Chee was the favorite and only surviving Disciple of Great Grandmaster Tarm Sarm. He was a highly respected and beloved Elder in the Choy Lay Fut Fraternity and he will be dearly missed.

Master Dave Lacey was extremely close to Elder Lun Chee and is deeply saddened by this news. He will be attending the funeral to pay his last respects.

The Buck Sing Gwoon deeply mourns the passing of the Revered Elder Lun Chee.

May he rest in eternal peace.

yeah, from what i've been told about Lun Chee, he was definately one revered master.

He's said to have had one helluva kup choy, even into his old age. and he trained students to beat shaolin monks back in the day. one of the singapore hung sing disciples got some personal insight from lun chee, who trained him to use his sow choys, which ultimately beat this monk called the iron tank.

i only wish i could have seen the man move.

I was a bit shocked and greatly saddened to read the news this morning. I took the day to remeber all the stories my Sifu has shared of GM Lun Jee over the years before I wrote anything. I phoned my Sifu and told him the news, he sends his best wishes to Lun Chee's family and all of his disiples around the world.

I was dispointed by the news as I never got to meet him in person, my sifu, my di sihing and myself have been trying to coordinate a trip to Calgary so i could meet him, as my Di Sihing had the honour of meeting him in the old Saskatoon-kwoon days 1984/85.

My Sifu even spoke with his son a few weeks ago on a trip to Calgary, unforutnately Lun Jee was out of town and so we all planned to return in the new year for a visit.

My sifu tells the most amazing stories of a Lun Jee in his 70's still the impeccable maritial artist and master. He always talks about how storng he was and how he always sat straight backed in his chair. My Sifu held a tournament in 1985 and Lun Jee took the greyhound bus in his mid 70's the 9 hour trip from Calgary to Saskatoon to be there and support my Sifu, of course he didn't tell my sifu he was taking the bus he just arrived. He was tireless in his efforts to build the style and support all of his family

Any time my sifu wants to drill home a point or really wants me to remember somthing he'll always start with "this was what I used to think too, but then Lun Jee explained it to me...."
