WUDANG 8 IMMORTAL STAFF (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g-SoREnS_nQ&NR=1).......

truthfully, CLF was the only style i was completely attracted to.......until i started noticing the level of skill displayed by wudang martial artists........

the staff form alone has sealed my thoughts about the system........although i wouldn't learn wudang........it is ONE system that i think is awesome.

I think there is a documentary about Wudang kung fu, I think it was from National Geographic but I'm not sure about that.
Have you seen it Frank?

This guy has kind of a combination of modern and traditional, like the Shaolin guys. Allways looks really strong, and he's show a few forms that I really like. That was a pretty cool staff form though.

Nice set.

I giggled at the Li T'ieh-kuai part where he uses the staff as a crutch. signature of the 8 to me when i see that. the drinking part is common, but the expression of the actual immortals is much more interesting.

While it is nice to see pad work being done, I have never been a fan of flashiness, even if it is for the sake of the tourists.
It would be nice to see real aplications of Wudang MA and not the flowery stuff done for the sake of cool looking demos.

looked legit to me. flashy or no he had some shake it up in those attacks considering he's not that big a guy.

their kicking skills are way off the charts IMO.......

truthfully, i don't think i've ever seen kicking skills to match theirs. not even olympic TKD.....

Its not a "legit" thing, far from that, his skill is obvious, just flowery, like most wudang demos.

As for kicking, the guy is obviously fast and dynamic. His kicks have a very clear trajectory etc, but it seems that it just lacks thought or something.

Have you seen some taekkyon clips? Like these:

I find it a lot better. They really seem to know how to use their legs.

nah, sorry sir. it didn't do it for me like the ones i mentioned. i was really giving it a good try, but i still think the other guy has crispness, very very clean, maybe not as strong, but visually, they are in my opinion......almost perfect.

why does the guy just let him kick, lol i think the trance music ****s his head lmao it's like that other video i posted with the whiteboys feeling they chi talking about the world is sound bumping the mortal combat theme...it's the new chi kill system ****a no touch kill they hipnotize their opponnents with new age music and rampantly tickle them to death with their dirty feet....

your average tkd demo team will have kicks that match or surpass those shown by the wudang folks.

I mean to be fair, tkd = flashy kicks moreso than pretty much anything else.

Never seen real Tae Kwon Do.
pretty cool links man...how they do the dance for their roundhouse swithups?...like they do right and left roundhouse continuosly in the air, but in comp they do it as a bunch of fakes...I would love to see if they have any form for this...looks like it builds mad power!. What kind of scientific studies have the TKD olympic peeps done to get they kicks so spinny?.:)
Props to this thread

I have had the chance to train in both MT and ITF TKD, even a bit in WTF, and the kicks of a good TKD are just as powerful and fast as those of a MT fighter ( though I give the edge to the MT fighter in terms of low kicks and overall fighting skill).
ITF TKD loves the lead leg kicks and I have seen some pretty nasty KO's from lead leg side kicks, round kicks and even lead leg hook kicks.
TKD has always been "mostly kicks", that is a given, little know fact is that the orginal ITF guys from the 60's and 70's all had very good hands too.

Wu Dang Chia is very interesting if you have the time to study it. There are two highly skilled masters in the U.S.
Master Chen and Master Bing both are martial arts brothers and highly skilled.
