Okay, so how would I go about emigrating to Canada? I read somewhere that the minimal requirements for U.S. citizen are at least $2000 and a "sponsor." I'm in food service, so I doubt employment will be a problem. Right now I'm thinking Alberta or BC, but any place with free health care and good bud will suffice.
Also, do you need to have a 100% clean record? I'm on probation for molesting a dead horse, but after a year it gets reduced to a misdemeanor.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You do realize that Canada is in fact honorary third world, right? We will be annexed pretty one of these days by the US of A if the conversative gets the majority. So why bother to come to Canada? FYI, there is no such a thing as universal health care. It's a myth. You still have to pay a premium on health insurance in most of the provinces.
As for having a criminal record, well it's not a big deal. A lot of the politicians here have them. Properly that's the kind of job that criminal record doesn't mean a thing at all.
So best of luck in moving to the northern hell.

Actually, that may not be a "problem" at all, since any place with typical liberal/socialist "mores" will likely simply label that as a "life-style choice"....
Just that simply, "your record is expunged".... just don't get hard of hearing because they may actually be talking about "expunging your rectum"........

If you have a criminal record then forget it, you can't come in.
otherwise, read the government policies on immigration at their site. I don't think there are any customs and immigration guys here and even then, they are not the ones who set the policies.

I hope you're joking. Seroiusly, if not, get a life. Smoking pot is hardly a reason for anything on a level of life change that is emigrating to another country. In which case, why would you move to canada?

a few years ago, Canada even denied Nelson Mandela a visiting visa because he spend 27 years in jail.
I also want to live in Canada. I think that must be the coolest place in the world to live in.
