I have noticed a few groups use multiple drums on their performances? Any comments/opinions to the following questions would be good.

What music can u use for a musical piece?

Is it practical to use more than one drum for a traditional dance?

Do people like a drumming section of a demo?

Do the drums have to be the same? (Tuning / size)

Cheers

They probably got the idea from the modern Malaysian/Singaporian dragon dance stuff. They often use 2 or 3 different drums now. I beleive traditionally only one drum would be used for lion dance.

This is the Taiwan HUNG SING LION DANCERS...........

i really love this group of lion dancers.......

Hung Sing Taiwan Lion Dancers (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uPbdBxhN6ks)

quick story: these lion dancers did a U.S. tour some years ago, and had no idea they had a brother group in san francisco. they had no clue that we would meet them and support them with our own lion dancing. It totally surprised them to see all these white shirts with the name "hung sing" on the front.

it was cool. these guys are really good.

Super cool. This sounds the same as the drumming I learned from my Sifu. I hear alot nowadays that use the 3, 5, and 7 star beats of dragon dance, but was delighted to hear these kind of rhythms for lion dance, same as I am familiar with.
