Here's a clip of one of my actor friends fight scene. Marrese Crump (http://www.myspace.com/marresecrump) is a martial arts instructor and personal trainer in Tampa FL and is the teacher of one of my actor friends Anesti (http://www.myspace.com/anesti)who worked with me on "A Patriot Act" (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1112736/) and Ninjas vs Pirates (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1135511/).

Marrese is also the personal trainer for WWE's Batista. I haven't worked with him myself yet but let me know what you think.

Not bad at all, just a few minor things:
When you film a sequence that will be done in slo-mo, you really need to check the angles if you are not making contact.
When you do combos in a rapid fire mode, its very easy for it to look like the opponent is not feeling anything because of the difference in reaction time, that;s why most do the "punch, react, punch, react" thing.
Again, angles is the key, you can look into "the perfect weapon" as an example of this.
When using sticks and such and swinging you have to be careful not to aim away from the person, what you want to do is aim AT the person and the person move.
Trickly but looks much better, more so in slo-mo.

All in all, nice work.

He's new to the movie scene so I can only imagine it will get better with experience.

No doubt, its already pretty good and remember, its the "bad guy" that sells the action.
