Just interested Phil,
What is William saying in the second vid about the wrist lock, whats TWC view on that ?
To not face your fingers foward when applying Bong.
Dont leave the bong out for someone to do the lock (bong never stays)
Instinctivly id apply Kap jarn if anyone ever tried something like that...
Curious

Hey Drew, He was explaining one of the reasons we don't want our fingers pointing towards the attacker. It all depends on the timing, position, etc., to make it work. If it's not there then follow up with something else. The key is interruptablilty.

Thanks phil, yeah i was just curious cause i have seen some lineages actually point the fingers in such a way on purpose which i dont do myself.
Ive always been curious as to the reason behind why they want to do this.
For me it breaks certain ideas about energy use and diverting force.
Cheers for the links mate.

Some articles where Cheung Cheuk Hing (William Cheung), is mentioned.
A historical insight by Wong Shun Leung (in this article they
used the Mandarin "Chang" for the Cantonese "Cheung" when refering to
William Cheung). There is an interesting part where Bruce Lee asks if he could ever beat WSL or Cheung (Chang).

Caveat: I don't represent the Moy Yat line, but it is my lineage per se.
I point my fingers towards my opponents centreline when I apply Bong Sau. I do this to focus my energy and intent - the same as when I do Tan Sau. My Tan Sau's fingers are pointing in the direction of the my intent (more flat Tan Sau used in this case - not always the case, though).
Hope this makes sense. Personal preference and I would like to think because "The Bong never stays," that it works for me.
Best,
Kenton

Hi Kenton, everyone does what they think will work. One of the ways to test what works is to fight/spar with it. If it works it's all good. I personally don't knock what others do. I've seen people pull off things I'd never do but it worked for them. ;)

Interesting idea regarding starting from the "Endgame."
When I started to learn Chess, I started with studying the closes...the last few moves to finish my opponent.
Very cool,

Nah, that's mid-90's. Joe Sayah is with him (Joe first came over with him on tour around '93-'94), and that's the 90's version of the sweatpants.
And yes, never like the mustache either.
