My Girl Friend is trying to loose weight quite a bit of it. She making good progress but she doesn't like doing the martial arts in like a class setting. Could anyone here suggest a workout that they would suggest to do like TaeBo or any others? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

a very effective way to lose weight is to take long walks at a brisk pace.

about an hour a day.
results are actually quite quick and you'll notice a difference inside of 30 days.

also diet is very important, iE: no fried foods, lots of fresh veg, lean meat (if your eat meat) no fast food, no snacks of junk food (carrots, celery, that sort of thing)

after lightening up a bit, then you can use martial arts or other more conventional means to tone and strengthen.

High impact aerobics such as tae bo are not the recommended thing for starting right out of the gate.

good luck!

I lost 55 pounds by changing my diet and going for long walks. My diet changed to that I ate for breakfast what is typically lunch, I ate at lunch what is typically dinner, and I ate at dinner what is typically breakfast (cereal) or a salad or something very light.

This method took two years to shed the 55 pounds, but it's off permanently--I changed to a lifestyle that I could maintain.

Mojo, absolutely.

Anytime you spend more calories than you consume you will loose weight. Simple rule. Wanna loose weight, eat less and be more active. Unfortunatley, that is pretty short and simple so it doesn't make it into allot of diet books.

Lifting weights, as with any other exercise, spends calories. Heavy lifting, especially with big combination exercises, like dead lifts, spend allot of calories.

it's also what you eat as well. A Combo #4 at your Local Mc Donalds has about 1600 Calories. Thats almost half the days calorie intake for a normal person! You need to eat well lots of fruit and Leafy vegetables in addition to a regular excercise program.
