here's a cool set of pics of some graffiti art in the area.

I actually get to pass by much of this on my daily route to work.

'tagging' I don't get, it's meaningless in the big picture and should be punished in some way.

but, artists who are truly evocative in their message is different, imo.

the very first place I looked at here to put a school had a huge brick wall that I immediately thought of as a good 'community' place to invite graffiti artists to do their thing...didn't come to pass though.

picture 9 is just a tag. it's one of the 'gangs' here in town and you see 'moms' all over the place from grease pencil to spray paint. pointless except to irritate others.

much of the rest makes you think, especially 2 and 7 for me. In regards to 2, Asheville and the rest of western NC enjoys some of the worst air quality on the east coast. happy, happy, joy, joy!

Some of that was quite cool, tho not a style I particularly like. I'm a bit of a Banksy fan myself. He can be an arse too, but I like his style.

I appreciate this art of tagging. Most seems to be maybe gang related sh*t, but every now and then you get really good stuff. I`m an old man but I have a passion for the arts. Nashville is a huge train depot, thus tagging train cars. I see some really great art on cars that are just passing thru, who knows where it came from and where it is going. I think some of these dudes can make great tatoo artists, what do you think. I dated a lady back in 96 who had a teenager who locked himself up in his room and practiced his drawings. He had some spectacular stuff for sure. Much respect, just maybe redirect.

no, but I'm lazy. after all, I posted links to what I wanted to show.:)

Yu: it was my idea if I had a big enough building to offer the sort of redirect you are talking about. lots of kids just need a nudge in the opposite direction of the easiest path.
