View Full Version : The hoodie dilemma

Everyone has a few hoodies (hooded sweatshirts, right?) Well, recently I've had two negative exepiences with them, martially speaking.

The first problem I had was rolling with a guy who wouldn't take his sweatshirt off. No problem, I figured it would give me more to grab onto. But, whenever I attempted a guillotine choke and later a triangle, the sweatshirt hood prevented me from sinking them in and provided a buffer for him to pull out of the chokes.

On another occasssion, I was wearing a hoodie and playing with my rope dart. Well, wouldn't you know it, the **** thing kept getting caught on my hood.

In conclusion, I believe we are going to have to change everything we know about martial arts because of hoodies.

Am I looking for a rabbit?

no, you're reaching for the neck and or ear grab. lol

sink your hooks inside the hoodie instead of outside of it.

may as well try seeing as this would appear to be some sort of rbsd training stuff anyway or the dude wouldn't be wearing a hoodie right?

also, don't listen to ronin an dhis hockey anaoligies, he doesn't know what he's saying. beware! :p

No, we were just rolling. I think he was just a construction worker who was worried, quite correctly, that he smelled bad and was trying to conceal it.

At any rate, I noticed you both side-stepped my rope-dart dilemma.

Do gi training for like five minutes and you should learn a handful of chokes using someone's gi against themselves.

I thought this was a kung fu forum? Why does everyone side-step the rope-dart dilemma?

because rope darts are for wussies who can't handle a real weapon?

I guess because not many people know/do rope dart (duh), much less do
rope dart in a hoodie.;) Just ask yourself WWWFHD?(What would Wong Fei Hung do?)

And sanjuro i can always count on you to keep things in a proper perspective
with those beautiful pics you dig up. Boing!:D

I think that MK's issue is that his rope dart got caught in this guys hoodie and now smells bad.

I think there is only on thing he can do, go to the nearest sorority and:

If Wong Fei Hung were alive today, he would invent a form to solve this problem.

Are you insinuating that TCMA doesn't have the answer to the hoodie?
BS, I know because I know that my system of WC has it, though I haven't trained in it yet and it's never been tested against someone with a real hoodie.

The solution to your dilemma MK is to wear the hoodie backwards and cut
holes out for the eyes. Then you'll not only stop getting the dart snagged
but you'll look like a scary urban terrorist or a douchebag with his clothes
on backwards (a la Kriss Kross circa late eighties??) swingin' a rope dart
in the park.:D:eek:
