With most Chinese medicine you can do either or, I'll try to find out for sure which is better when I see the doctor this weekend.

deer tendon is cooked into soup, made into wine, and used in some advanced iron palm formulas to supplement the tendons.

You can also get Deer Extract pills that have all deer parts in them.

Do you drink it or rub it on?

I have a lot of dried deer leg tendon. Sinew if you will. I boil it to make a glue. It actually makes what is sometimes called hide glue. Any rawhide, sinew, lips, hoofs, make a very strong glue. This is why I was wondering if it is drank or rubbed on. I do not know what is present in the sinew but it is said to be cologen or some such that makes the glue. I can also get that by using the unflavored jelletin that you make jello or pie fillings with. That stuff is also made from hide glue. It does have nutritional value, but I would wonder what exactly that it would do for sore or brused tendons. The vodka would certainly have a good effect.

I use it in my Black Dragon Advanced Iron Palm formula (https://www.coilingdragoninternalarts.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=30_31&products_id=34&zenid=f1b30e22812c2e50c0417e9815b39795).
