What are some techniques, methods, or exercises that will help me increase my static flexibility. What good is knowing kung fu if you can't hold a good pose with your leg up in the air, you tell me that! :D

PNF (proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation) is a good way to reach that goal!
Even though it is touted as being excellent for most, some people may find it useful than others.

Try to find Pavel Tsatsouline's stuff. There's megaupload links galore around.
His, in my opinion, is the best. There's also magnificient mobility which is very good as well.
Not quite static stuff but Tsatsouline's is quality.
