Ok guys, what are the choices for online MA forums?

www.kungfumagazine.com
Been overrun with pinheads, more than in the past.

www.bullshido.com
Checked it briefly and seems clique-ish and narrowminded.

www.mantisquarterly.com/forum/
I bailed out of here with a bunch of others from the NPM forum when this kicked off but activity is limited and primarily just Northern Mantis.

truthmartialarts
Just signed up and I think it's SifuAble's board. Yes/No? Hopefully not one sided and open to all views (except for the pinheads).

www.emptyflower.net
Apparently had it's own drama but hopefully it's over. Going to sign up and check it out.

What else is there?

You forgot http://emptyflower.com/phpBB3/ the actual emptyflower forum.

Actually, the original emptyflower community went back the Devere's site at www.emptyflower.com. That is where that community started.

If you are going to go to the imitation emptyflower, you should go the original as well.

I didn't forget it, I didn't know about it. That's why I'm asking. Any others?

Edit: What the heck was that RD? The one B-Rad listed is where I went. Not really into horses and stuff.

The emptyflower owner does non-MA web design and www.emptyflower.com is his main site. Press enter and go to the xingyiquan database link to see the best xingyi website ever created :p Anyway, the very simple explanation is .com was the original official forum, .net was created when the owner of .com didn't feel like supporting his forum anymore, but now .com is back and refurbished.

I'll check it out. Do I have to walk a circle to get in? :p

Oh, if you enter emptyflower.com there's a xingyi quan database link that'll take you to a fantastic website on xingyi that deVere created.

http://www.e-budo.com/ A nice forum, extremly polite, well moderated, usually good information and higher-level practitioners (i.e. 10 years or more in thier respective arts).

Its not Rudy's forum, but Rudy did help set it up.
Rudy is not part of it anymore.
Think of it as E-Budo, but with humour, less moderation ( but still very well moderated) and with a greater balance of MA.
It is, however, very small with a limited amount of people and NO drama.
Well...not lots of drama anyways.
:D

Wow, I just looked at this site....I'm not a practitioner of Hsing Yi, but wow, I loved the site. Devere is the man when it comes to website design and graphics. Site is awesome!!!!

You could leave and really improve that situation.

I don't mind truth martial arts.
It's less inflammatory due to the no anonymous rule there, which is cool and cuts down on goofy posts like you will see here and elsewhere.

so there and:

http://www.emptyflower.com/phpBB3

http://www.cyberkwoon.com (been around since 94-95) and has some good stuff. there are a lot of novices on this board but there is little in the way of ass hats.

and here, which has some great posts, but is equalized with all the ass hats. :p

Just as a word of advice from ef.net to ef.com.

As long as you are not the "root directory" on a web domain this sort
of viewer redirect will happen. It will cost you pagerank also.

Yao Sing,
EF.com is smaller (330 members or so) and is focused on maintaining a
"classic feel" and style. If you like that style you will like the forum. It's
mainly a matter of taste. They presently have a forum and are about
to go live with a Chatroom (and of course.. they have the xingyiquan
archive and all DeVere's artwork.. which is stellar stuff).

Ef.net is bigger (1500+ members) and is trying to "grow/expand/improve".
There are member blogs, galleries, a commercial Video Review section
(reviewing commercial MA instructional vids, not anything $$$ for the site),
a Wiki, JavaChat, an Instructor's Directory, Combat Sports forum, a Journal
in the works etc.

You just pick your poison (or pick them both... if you have time for more than
one!).

page rank is useless at this time and doesn't matter. You know that if you are a member of the google webmaster forums. Pagerank is broken because of all the other implementations over the years. It can't function properly with paid ads being dropped into the soup. The code hasn't been divided into proper streams and ergo, page rank is moot.

secondly, you are being deceptive by counting your new ef.net as having more members than ef.com which in fact is the same membership more or less.

forum memberships are also moot and meaningless because of duping, dead accounts, joke accounts, test accounts and so on. It's easy to pad forum numbers.

You speak flowery but yoru intention to undermine is clear.

Normally, I am unconcerned, but this is just greasy.

Their fighter database is pretty good though.

True, but it does give you an idea about what your average MMA fan is thinking so that you can communicate with them in social situations, if need be.
