I was going through box's and box's of martial art tape's and took two box's full of DVD's and a couple VHS tapes to Rasputen records to sell back.
The VHS tape O-mei, snake fist starring the pretty teacher, chinese I think her first name is Helen and the cover was light green was given back to by the salesperson who said it was only worth a NICKEL.
I still cannot get over it, A STUPID NICKEL

Hey Gene check this out. My friend joined a gym and they have a power rack sort of like like the one bruce lee used to do his isometrics on. anyway bruce lee used to expand his "CHI" on it by sticking his wrists under the bar and pulling up. my pal put 200 pounds on the bar and held there on his wrists unsported for 5 seconds. I never seen this feat of strengh like this anywhere.
Also the same exercise is in James Demiles book where the guy his just pulling up on the bar with no weight on a home made power rack.
A penny for your thoughts.

I read an article about Bruce's Marcy Apex machine. I have a later model of one before they sold out to another company and started selling the home stuff. I'd say mine is close to 30 years old but doesn't have the static exercise station like his.

I'm not sure which machine you are describing so I have no thoughts on the matter.

I am disappointed that you do not know about the Greatest martial artist of our time Bruce lee and his training methods.

I actually met George Lee along time ago. He made a ton of stuff for Bruce (http://ezine.kungfumagazine.com/ezine/article.php?article=280). Which is why I don't know which one you're talking about. If you're sore because you can't get much resale value out of your VHS tapes, how do you think we feel? We still have thousands of them (http://www.martialartsmart.net/Demo_Instructional.html).

No I am sore about the tape only going for 5 cents, the material was very good and Helen is very entertaining. I just did not need it anymore and I will not give it away so someone else get that information for free, if someone wants the material they got to buy new.
I met George Lee twice and asked him much Bruce lee could do on the grip machine that George lee built for him and he told me so I have an Idea how strong Bruce's grip was.
I get to call him bruce because Linda said I could.
But it is hard to believe you have not seen or remember Bruce's portable Isometric rack with him doing his exercise's.
I also let George try the gripper the first time I met him, he had never seen one before.
The machine is not really a machine it is a rack that can be used for a ton of stuff including the 1 inch punch.

Gene, what plans to do you have to liquidate your inventory in the coming years?

How are we liquidating our VHS? That a good question. It's a work in progress. As you know, we have a longstanding tradition of offering free videos from our catalog in every issue of our magazine. That was hugely successful for us back in the day, but now, the $10.00 S&H charge is 200x street value. So that's been tapering off, as you might imagine. In our next issue (Sep Oct 2008), we will offer our first 'free' DVD, alongside two other VHS. Of course, we have converted Helen to DVD (http://www.martialartsmart.net/DVD_ChineseArtsDVDs_OMei.html), along with many other titles. It's a time-consuming process, because money goes out for the conversion, and then returns rather slowly since they are backlist titles. Eventually, all the VHS that have descent sales will be converted. It's been an ongoing process for our video department for years. We also offer our VHS at rock-bottom prices at our parking lot sales (http://ezine.kungfumagazine.com/forum/showthread.php?t=45809), but they are slow movers there too. It's a nearly dead platform and we are losing a lot of money in premade inventory. Such is business. We've reduced prices on our VHS, and may well reduce them some more someday, but it's getting like selling 8-tracks.

elvis, post a pic of this famous rack or send me a reference (perhaps in The Art of Expressing the Human Body (http://www.martialartsmart.net/bcn-tpbl004.html)?) or this conversation will go extinct just like VHS...:(

I'd so take a bunch of your tapes if it weren't for the S&H... If I'm ever in Kentukey I'll stop by the martialartsmart outlet and buy some. :D

Of course the chance of me crossing the US border are pretty slim as my travel interests tend to veer more to the east and west than the south...

8 tracks...a little before my time. I remember stories when VCRs were like $1000, but I was only a wee lad at that time (if I'm referring to the correct time period). What a dilemma you have. The platform will be non-existent whilst you guys figure out a way. It seems the conversions are not quite worth their wait in gold...at least not yet.

You're parking lot sales I've never had the opportunity to attend. I just never find myself in that area...ever. I'm happy that there is an on-going process to deal with this situation. I know family members who still use VHs...so not yet a dead medium. But regarding subject matter, that is where our interests vary.

Seems I've brought up a sore subject. I can almost hear you groaning and cursing as I read your post Gene. Sorry.
