I just got back from Vacation in Algonquin provincial park. While there I agreed to do the Centennial Ridges trail with my brother. This 10 KM loop looks easy on the map... And the photographs we found don't do it justice. We thought it'd be low ridges... rather than an actual mountian... which it was. We chose to disregard the warnings that the trail was advanced.

Well... when we got down and read the guide it turned out that we had visited the summit of MacDougal Mountain, the highest point in the park. This is the third mountain I've reached the summit of and the first one that did not have a road or a staircase up to the top. I very nearly injured myself on the trek... Well when I say very nearly I mean I did in fact injure myself but not seriously enough to complete. I've had some minor pain in my left calf since then though it is fading. Probably pulled a muscle while trying to walk down between ridge 4 and ridge 5.

Anyone else ever climbed a mountain without setting out to do so on purpose?
