The Dalai Lama saw terrorist acts kill thousands of his own children in his country.

I am confident that the United States as a great and powerful nation will be able to overcome this present tragedy. The American people have shown their resilience, courage and determination when faced with such difficult and sad situations.

Message from Khenrinpoche Geshe Lhundrup

quote:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Today all the Kopan community, lamas, geshes, monks, nuns, teachers, and all workers – around 500 people – were together in the gompa, praying. We made all different kinds of prayers, such as Lama Choepa, etc., and many Om Mani Padme Hum mantras for those who died in this terrible disaster, and also for those who were hurt, and are sick and suffering in their body and mind. We also prayed and still pray, for all Americans to be healthy and happy again; we pray that all the good plans for benefiting others in business, education, and all other areas will be completely successful and completed perfectly

your central channel open, and your two side channels closed.
These are the only alternatives..."

While I hold the utmost respect and admiration for the Dalai Lama, I feel that a page can be taken from another type of Buddhism right now. Cha'an Buddhism and appropriately the Shaolin monks of histort past.
These great men knew that to have long periods of peace, it was sometimes neccesary to fight.
This is the balance of life and the way things happen.
