Hi guys,
I usually lurk and read the posts but I came across this Youtube video and wanted to know if it was a traditional shaolin bench form.

Can somebody tell me if this is a traditional Shaolin bench form? It looks like its from a Jackie Chan film. :confused:

i've never seen a bench form in shaolin temple or by anyone around there. thats more southern style. and the guys suit was southern fashion. but i have seen bench forms. they tend to have more variety of attacks with the bench than that form there. that mostly spinning around with it and then sitting down every two seconds. i dont know. but i wouldnt call it a "shaolin monk" bench form as i have never seen a shaolin monk use one.

I believe bench forms were late adaptions/adoptions by opera performers who studied shaolin and then perfected these bench forms as part of the Chinese opera routines.
