1940's - 1950's: Shek Kin (Mr. Han) In his younger days, he could move! A Law Horn stylist who learnt from Grandmaster Sun, Yu-Feng, he is the most prolific northern sil lum martial artist. You gotta rent some of his old blk & white movies; they are classics.

1960's: I cannot remember much of the sixties, except for Ed Parker on the Lucy Show... and Bruce Tegner books /infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
Fresca soft drink tasted much better then.

1970's: Bruce Lee and Angela Mao(period)

1980's: Jackie Chan in redubbed Japanese versions (music is more in sync). Fu Sheng and et al in the Nam Sil Lum Shaw films. The Lau Bros. for all the Hung Gar movies...

1990's: Jet Lee in the later movies - the dark ones like the "Black Mask." Michelle Yeoh who can kick Jackie's butt...can kick mine also.

Hmmmm... I never really enjoyed Bruce Lee movies. I mean, he can move well and all, but the films themselves as films were just atrocious. Anyone else notice how Chuck used to be all furry and now he's smooth?

For my money, Stephen Chiao is the man. Hong Kong's martial arts comedian and star of such greats as Hail the Judge, King of Beggars, Forbidden City Cop, and the greatest flick of all time, God of Cookery.

After Stephen, I'll take Jet Li, though again I tend to prefer him in the funnier ones like Fong Sai Yuk, Last Hero in China, Tai Chi Master, and Kung Fu Cult Master. He's really well suited to comedy but is often cast too seriously.

After Jet, give me the early team ups with Jackie, Sammo, and Biao. Those were just a lot of fun.

At the bottom of my list would be pretty much every american martial arts film ever made with the possible exceptions of Only the Strong and the Matrix (which is really a Hong Kong film anyway)

For the Martial Arts themselves in the movies, I gotta say Jackie Chan considering Drunken Monkey and Drunken Monkey II. Good Drunken Boxing.

2nd. - Jet Li, Once Upon a Time in China II.

3rd - Samo Hung, Martial Law + some films w/ Jackie Chan.

4th - Bruce Lee. OK Martial Arts in fist of Fury but something in his fighting style makes me annoyed. Maybe my sub consciousness is jealous of him but something about 1 man agains 70 others with 1 hit kills just doesn't register in my brain.

Samo wasn't always fat. When he was in Chinese Opera School with Jackie Chan, he got a debilitating leg injury that forced him to the bed for a long while. Thats when he got fat and then his Master layed him off.

He didn't bring anything of his own attributes to the screen sooooo....

No comparison w/the others. He was a marketing product brought in to sell all that Crow's topps trading cards, shirts, and other junk. Just like the Monkees were brought in to capitalize on the Beatles... I enjoyed his sister's appearance on Martial Law more than any of his other acting roles.

I keep on thinking that he is the son of Kwai, Chang-Caine instead of Bruce's.

This isn't based on my estimation of martial skills, but on whether I enjoyed the movie they were in...I don't feel qualified yet to judge ANYONE'S technique, they all look better than me. :D
Adrian Paul's Highlander. I've loved some of the forms I've seen him do on the show, and the character of Duncan is great when he's dark and brooding. He was a big inspiration for me to start into CMA.
Jackie Chan. Love the physical humor he brings to the screen.
Jet Li. Geez, that guy is impressive.
Bruce Lee. He's just SO universal, people who've watched no other martial art flick will have seen his.
Steven Seagal. His moves just look so lethal...he'd make a better bad guy though.

Yukari Oshima
Jet Li
Brandon Lee (he was awesome in Rapid Fire!)

Now for my "Are you f'n serious?"....
Van Damme and Seagal? Seriously???

Yes, it very realistic for Van Damme to land one strike in the full splits while he makes an "Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah" sound for an extended dance remix. And there is no way in hell he would have beaten the Chinese dude in The Quest! No way!

Seagal may be good in real life, but he does not translate well on screen in my view. Besides his movies now are garbage....he's fat, old and all the bad guys talk about how great and tough he is but they fight him anyways. Whatever. Someone needs to tell Seagal to get off the phony Buddhist Native American Indian Zen Country singer whatever else kick of the week and get on a treadmill. Spend some that energy beating the inches off his waistline instead of his wives. 'Nuff said!

Are you referring to Chang Shan from Shaolin Vs Lama and Shaolin Temple Strikes Back? If so, I would have to agree that he has a great prescence and leg skill.

The openng fight scene of Shaolin Temple Strikes Back was originally a little longer. It showed Chang Shan doing some serious kicking. I went to Chinatown to see that movie and I sat through it twice just to see that guy move.

First of all, Jet Li really can fight.
Second, have you ever heard of Benny the Jet Urquidez or Chuck Norris, cause I'm pretty sure you have.
Third, I just recently saw a bio of shen chan on a wutang movie, and he spent a lot of time in jail because of brawling, after watching this guy in shaolin vs lama, I have to admit that I would **** my pants if he wanted to fight me.
Also I know there are plenty of stories out there about Hwang Jang Lee, and even at like 75, I wouldn't dare challenge that guy, not if I was Vin Diesel.

So I don't want to rub you the wrong way, but just give my opinion that these guys really can fight. And come on dude, seriously, you are gonna tell me after watching fist of legend that Billy Chow wouldn't woop up on about anyone in this world. No,I haven't seen Killer Constable yet
I rented it last week end and recorded it,but I haven't had

I think the reason it's so dark is because it's a bootlegged

Puma,

THis movie is of course a bootleg, but has no white lines and the picture is very acceptable. The dubbing is another story but better than any of the wutang or new age Jet li movies. Tell me by any chance if you have the name under Killer Constable or Lightining Kung fu, because lightining is in a blue box with two guys in an armlock, who aren't in the movie. Hopefully this is not too much of a spoiler but the bootleg version of lightining is judt fine and is DEFINITELY not the reason it is so dark. A wonderful story with one hell of a lead character, great support like Pai pao and Ku Feng. i have an 87-88 min version and the sound BOOMS. Tell me what the copy was like that you have and if it is the same as mine. :D :D

I never said he couldn't ;) Though I think he's made it clear he could really care less about real fighting though(1.he's a pacifist 2.he's filthy rich and can afford body gaurds)

Second, have you ever heard of Benny the Jet Urquidez or Chuck Norris, cause I'm pretty sure you have.
Have you ever seen a Chuck Norris movie? :D They were good fighters, but are pretty bad actors (at least Chuck is... only seen Benny the Jet in a Jackie Chan movie... didn't see him act :p).

I don't remember making any rules on this thread, but I was ONLY saying that a lot of these guys on screen, WHO DO INCRIDIBLE MOVES on screen, are pretty tough in real life. Though I haven't seen guys like chen kwan tai or bolo fight in real life, I'm just saying that they csn woop some @ass@@ @ @ .@. You seem to have made up some new rules on this thrread with saying that you can't tell who can fight or not in real life. So I wanted to call you out and say that guys like bolo, even though he can't act can really fight, and billy chow who is a pretty good actor(at least as a bad guy can also really fight). @ So if you cannot tell the difference between cliff lok and bruce lee, than you need to wwatch these movies a little bit closer. :D @

I was going over some of my Jack Long dvds(7 gmasters, ninja checkmate, world of drunken master, etc.) He isn't a power guy like shen chan or donnie yen, but He and Joseoh Kuo seriously put some of the greatest fu ever to the movie screen. Just a for instance, watch his fight in 7 grandmasters with corey yuen, obviously they ripped this off in crouching dragon, but jack long does stuff that I had no idea was possible.

Also, tell me what you thought of killer constable. "I said that I would forget about your doings, I didn't say I would spare your life". One more, one more, "If you'd have given up the gold, you might have lived". Great freaking movie.:p

Chang Shan has also been in the following movies I've seen:
Of Cooks and Kung Fu;
Seven Steps of Kung Fu;
A Fistful of Talons (A bit part; too bad he didn't get to fight Billy Chong);
Ma Lu Xiao Ying Xiong (I don't know the English title, this was a late-'80s Taiwanese film directed by the Yuen Brothers);
5 Fighters from Shaolin (as a good guy).
I've also seen him in a few forgettable modern-day "ninja" films with Alexander Lo Rei.

Besides his kicks, Chang Shan performs very well at apparently southern-style hand techniques, often using more hands than feet in his films! Very versatile performer.

Billy Chow was a world-class kickboxer in the now-defunct World Karate Association in the '80s.

My fave stars include:
Gordon Liu Chia-hui

5 Fighters from Shaolin (as a good guy).
WHAT WHAT WHAT WHAT WWWHWHHWHHHHWHHWATWTTW
I've also seen him in a few forgettable modern-day "ninja" films with Alexander Lo Rei.
It says on imdb he died in 84, can you confirm this, and if so do you know anywhere I can get a bio on other than the 22 word wutang rappers bio.

Besides his kicks, Chang Shan performs very well at apparently southern-style hand techniques, often using more hands than feet in his films! Very versatile performer.
i don't know if he is using the right form or anything, but he is my favorite in fist techniques,no doubt. And his kicks are ina class fo their own, he couldn't paint the ceiling with his right leg like liu but has the most power I have ever seen in those things. The only thing I could compare it with that is a passion of mine is Dominique Wilkins.

Billy Chow was a world-class kickboxer in the now-defunct World Karate Association in the '80s.

I know I threw a lot at you there so take your time. But I highly appreciate you telling me abotu five fighters from shaolin. I am tryng to find a celestial of course but would be happy with like red sun or a 99 cent wu-tang version, but I will certainly post to tell my feeling on seeing the biggest badass play the good guy. :D :D :D :D :D :D

In 5 Fighters from Shaolin, Chang Shan is one of about 5 good guys I think (I had seen a borrowed tape years ago), led by a Shaolin monk (Mark Long, a.k.a. Ghost-faced Killer). Chang is there minus the mustache. The lead villain is Jack Long. I can't help thinking this could have been a better film, though.

I saw Ma Lu Xiao Ying Xiong in Taiwan and never did own a tape of it; the hero was a young tomboy-like girl co-starring with Yuen Hsiang-yan (Yuan Wo-Ping's brother). The main villain was Ti Wei, and Chang Shan only had a bit part, wearing camo fatigues...!

Chi Kuan-Chun is most recognizable as the tall, lean-muscled Hung Gar stylist who was usually paired with Alexander Fu Sheng in the old Chang Cheh-directed Shaw Bros Shaolin films (5 Shaolin Masters, Shaolin Martial Arts, Men From the Monastery, Disciples of Shaolin, etc.).

Chang Shan appears in A Fistful of Talons starting in the beginning where Whang In-Sik and his men are throwing off their hats in a ceremony; he's one of Whang's men. He and another fighter end up getting killed off in a weapons fight by a river by a patriot played by Pai Ying.

The sworn brothers from shaolin strikes back team up again? Wow??????????????
But jack long is the ONLY thing that was missing from that movie, so I am now going to order this right when I get a chance.

You say it could have been better, but I watched a pretty crappy movie called shaolin ex monk. And jack long had had 1 fight scene and it was with a pole and that movie has stuck with me forever. I certainly know ALL the names of the movies with him in it. Now I look back on ex-monk and love it, I pick something new up every time, it's stupid, but worth it for jack long.

Now since you seem to know your movies, I wanna throw a couple at you that are my favs to see if you wanna check your vid store or something, I give it a 2% chance any of these got past you though.

The iceman cometh
Shaolin Prince AKA iron fingers of death
incredible kungfu mission
ninja in the dragon's den- you know conan is your favorite lee

ENJOY THOSE

The only one of those I haven't seen in the one with Prince in the title. :D

Saw Ninja in the Dragon's Den back in '82. Loved Hiroyuki Sanada as the co-star; this was his first of 2 Hong Kong films. He and Conan Lee team up on Hwang Jang-Lee at the end, if I remember correctly. You may remember Hiroyuki Sanada as the co-star of Ringu (original Japanese version of The Ring), Twilight Samurai, and the guy who kicks Tom Cruise's behind in The Last Samurai.

I also saw Iceman Cometh back in Taiwan. I think. Isn't that the one where Yuan Biao chases Yuen Wah from the Ming Dynasty to modern day?

jethro

That movie's action is so insane, I think it revolutionized stuff like woo-ping would do, but maybe he helped out with that, I'm not sure.

Also another one is Saholin Prince, it is another unique movie that stands out even for a shw brothers flick. It has derek yee, ti lung, and jason pai piao as the evil 9th prince. And of course it has a wonderful performance by ku feng. You may also remember this because of the three holy fools of shaolin, it is honestly one of the top 20 kung fu movies ever. You definitely need to check it out sometime. Look for the red sun version, I put them 2nd, but still pretty far behind celestial releases. And beware of the magic sword.

Also you didn't comment on Incredible Kungfu mission, it is EASILY the best showcase of liu's legwork ever.

And iceman cometh is pretty stupid, but what do I care, it has my favorite fights between Yuen Wah and Yuen Biou ever.

I like Incredible Kung-Fu Mission a lot! Actually, though, IMO the best showcase for Liu's leg skills is probably Death Dual of Kung Fu. Check out his fights with the 2 imperial officers armed with horse cutters, and also with the villain Han Ying (Eagle Han), who may be more flexible than Liu (Though possibly still not quite as great a kicker). Another good onscreen kicking duel is between John Liu and Hwang Jang-Lee in The Instant Kung Fu Man about 2/3 the way through the film. Liu only has a small part in the film as a Shaolin monk looking for an idiotic runaway student; Hwang is the main villain. I think Liu and Hwang made like 5 films together.
Other Liu films, some great, some so-so, a couple laughable, but all are interesting:

Secret Rivals I and II.
New South Hand Blows vs. North Kick Blows (aka Secret Rivals 3).
Snuff-Bottle Connection.
Invincible Armour.
Two Great Cavaliers.
Zen Kwun Do Strikes in Paris.
Ninja in the Claw of the CIA (very bad movie and funny, but great kicks).
Invincible Kung Fu Trio.
Fighting Ace.
The Dragon, The Hero. (Dragon on Fire).
Mar's Villa (Liu fights Philip Ko and Tang Wei from Killer Wears White).
Struggle Through Death.

I freaking love john liu, he actually sort of ****es me off by only uses one leg to fight with , but he more than makes up for it with his elg locks and jumping kicks.

I can't compare mission with death duel, but I will post to tell you if I think I'm still right when I see it.

Also, without the appearence of Hwang in instant kung fu man, I would seriously have to say I HATED that movie. It always sucks when the best part of the movie is the first freaking fight!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Secret Rivals I and II.
New South Hand Blows vs. North Kick Blows (aka Secret Rivals 3).

I have been looking for this for a while, I heard it has alexander lo rei in it also, is it pretty good?

Snuff-Bottle Connection.

Invincible Armour.

I keep trying to find the right version of this Ground zero has one but I know about them. :(

Two Great Cavaliers.

This movie had an awesome cast, did you recognize the baddie from jet li's iron rooster versus centipede in this? But other than the final fight I thought it really sucked.

Zen Kwun Do Strikes in Paris.

Ninja in the Claw of the CIA (very bad movie and funny, but great kicks).
Invincible Kung Fu Trio.
Fighting Ace.

I loved fighting ace, it's one of the worst attempts to make a story I have ever seen, BUT HOLY SHNIT THE ACTION IS FIERCE IN THIS ONE. This is like a top 2 or 3 john liu movie for me because HE USES BOTH LEGS AND ALMOST REGULARLY TOO.
The Dragon, The Hero. (Dragon on Fire).

i HAVE TO SEE JOHN LIU AND DRAGON LEE

Mar's Villa (Liu fights Philip Ko and Tang Wei from Killer Wears White).

Is this pretty good? Cause I am going insane seeing these 3 names in the same movie.
Struggle Through Death.

If I remember right, this is the really bad one where he actually only gets trained in one leg, hilarious, but a very good final fight. God what a stupid movie!!!!!!!!

A john liu one it seems that we both need to see is emmanuelle, which may be the cia one you listed, but I saw that he wrote and produced it, there is just something about seeing your favorite stars in some of the worst movies.:D

I can't find Secret Rivals 3 available, and I don't like VideoAsia...don't trust their quality control at all. I saw it as South Hands vs. North Kicks a long time ago...it does have Alexander Lo Rei as the southern fist...odd, because his main art is TKD, though he does a very good job. If I remember, the villain is the same tall skinny villain who had the blonde hair, wearing the cape in Incredible Kung Fu Mission. It's a very good film for Liu, IMO.

Mar's Villa is one of the better-made films. The top villain is Philip Ko and Tang Wei is his evil son.

The Dragon, the Hero is the best Godfrey Ho film...which isn't saying much. The only good things about it are Liu, Philip Ko, and Chen Liu as the "Mad Dog" who is a crack-up. Dragon Lee was thrown in probably just because Godfrey loves him...I dunno.

Morrissey without a moments hesitation or doubt, he croons with a reckless abandon.... wait sorry fighting stars.

Chui Man Cheuk / Chao Wenzhou = Check out Black Sheep Affair!

More old school - I would have to say Delon Tan for his work in 'The Hot, the Cool & the Vicious'

Of course one can't forget Yuen Biao - Prodigal Son, Knockabout, Kickboxer, Iceman Cometh...

Jackie Chan just for reinventing the genre when everyone was trying to fit action stars into a Bruce Lee imitation cookie cutter mold, Jackie came along and practically invented the Kung Fu comedy (Drunken Master & Snake in the Eagle's Shadow) and then modern Action film (Police Story).

My two bits and oh Morrissey could kick all your asses!

Morrissey, front man of eighties Brit post punk band the Smiths.

Hot, Cool & the Vicious - great in a retro kind of way. Loved the classic opening demo scenes when the credit roles. Remember seeing this flic back in the late seventies in a Chinatown theatre. The audience was actually cheering and applauding at the end of the movie, of course it was the seventies and of course tastes have changed. Nonetheless Delon Tan still has some of the best kicking of any era!

Zhao Wenchao - took over for Jet Li on a couple of OUATIC flics and also did Fist Power, Black Sheep Affair and the Mulan TV series in China.

Cheers!

1.---SSM-the star of this one, Chi Jian Guo, I saw a REALLY stupid looking movie called SSM 2 and that is the only movie I have EVER EVEN BEEN ABLE TO SPOT THIS GUY IN!!!! I would really like to know of a couple more things of him, if anything.

2.----I saw you said you saw a movie called showdown at the cottonmill and WILL be telling you what I thought of that, but I have the other release rarescope has out---the lost swordship. One of those sweet movies that is like a mainland chinese chor yuen film, not the greatest action, but characters that are just ruthless. The ku lung novel books are the shiznit. But there is a REALLY awesome interview with Robert Tai in this. I didn't recognize the name but when i saw this dudes big ugly face i recogized him as the super cool badass baddie from Incredible kung fu misson. I was wondering what other movies has this guy worked on cause imdb has it listed that he only worked on crippled avengers and i am willing to bet he worked ona few other films. But you have to see this interview he is HARDCORE ripping into acdtion director of dragon inn, hero srordsman 2, and talks about if he was making movie he would need at least 5 billion dollars to make his movie AND THIS GUY IS SERIOUS. Ah sheet I'm off work, nice to see your post though:D

SSM 2 sucks! I watched it 'cuz the original was great, and was disappointed.

So that was Robert Tai that played that skinny Dracula-caped villain with the deadly finger strike in Incredible Kung-fu Mission? If it is, then he's also the main villain of Secret Rivals 3 (a.k.a., New South Hands and North Kicks).

Note:
Some parts of Showdown at the Cotton Mill have some skips in it, but for the most part it's fine, and I give credit to Rarescope to at least admitting on the DVD cover that they copied from the only known print of the film available and that it's not exactly perfect. Some other areas are discolored, but except for one less-important fight scene, none of the fights have been messed up. They did the best they could do and made it as good as possible, and that's all anyone could ask for. I had a heck of a time getting the DVD off of the plastic holder in the case, so I put it in a different DVD case with a better release mechanism (I hate spending 45 minutes working a DVD out of its case and making sure not to break it. Tan Tao-liang shows up towards the end of the film, but IMO it may be his best performance on film.

Mine, the lost swordship has IMBEDDED SUBS. Since they restored the film decently, I can read about 80%, but even after watching 3 effin times, I am still missing som of the story. This is not a great action movie, but has a really good story, and was VERY dissapointed in that. AND DUDE, DID YOU WATCH THE EFIN TRAILERS. NINJAS IN ANCIENT CHINA, NINJAS AND DRAGONS, 3 CONSTABLES LOOK OUT OF THIS WORLD. LIKE 5 MORE GOOD ONES TOO. So I am hoping rarescope puts these out soon cause they show this one scene where 2 guys are fighting with swords in one hand, and they are holding umbrellas with their other hand. BRILLIANT scene.

So please post if your movie has IMBEDDED stupidass subs, or at least an english dub. And make sure you tell me if you have the USA or UK release cause I heard the UK has english dub, so the info will help me.

Also I will be commenting on Death Duel, I ordered it and it has not come, but I will tell you if I think it is li's best, we need to have some disagreements.:D

Also lost swordship was hard to get the dvd out but no troubles seconds and third time:D

My Showdown at the Cotton Mill has the old original subtitles, so sometimes are hard to read, but I can understand quite a bit or Mandarin (I lived in Taiwan for nearly 8 years), and also used to watch a lot of original-language kung fu movies back in the 80s in theaters, so understanding hard-to-read subtitled Mandarin films hasn't been a problem for me. I guess I hardly notice anymore...don't know of an English-dub version.

I don't own Secret Rivals 3, but saw it in the early 80s and have a good memory or the performers.

I only saw a few of the trailers that seemed interesting to me, but I suppose we'll have to see!

I saw a review that said the uk release has english dub, since I know about 1% of the cantonese language and can hardly tell the difference bwtween that and amndarin, I NEED good english subs. Or I can at least listen to the english dub once, and if it's decent I don't hav to strain my eyes the next time I watch it. It's a good thing though that rarescope put this in widescreen so only 5% of the subs get cutoff by the sides, so you are very lucky to know the language, cause this ****te really irks me:mad:

I don't own Secret Rivals 3, but saw it in the early 80s and have a good memory or the performers.

I won't give a review on this for a while. Every month or 2 I get on the net and buy 5-10 movies. I get a lot of those collections if I see something really good, but they usually suck cause they are so cheap. And SR 3 is by vid asia, so this time I went with RED SUN released avengiign eagle and mad monkey kung fu. I also got boxer's advebture and drive, which I haven't seen in a long time!!:D

I remember someone had avenging eagle as their favorite movie and have been looking for it for a while, but i will always suggest red sun if you can't get celestial. Celestail musyt have created them before they started releasing casue they only do shaw flicks, but there are plenty of thise. All 4 of their movies I have currently are letterboxed with crystal clear picture and I will definitely give monkey and eagle credit if they have all the goods, shaolin prince is the only red sun version I have that only has english dub, at least I can follow the plot:D

I saw death duel fo kf and I have to say that eagle han has never looked worse:p His fighing abilities have never looked better. It does look like he could be even better than that if he was under say woo-ping or kau leung, or many many others, but I didn't think a movie vcould possibly be worse than secret rivals and still be oh so good. This movie was really bad but like 4 fight scenes that make me give it a thumbs up. Admit it, you like this movie because of the eagle's stylin hairdo. And the stunt double slow mo scene, classic:D

hey update on chang shan and other things. he had one great fight with JACK LONG in ninja hunter, and another pretty good one. And also, that was forgettable, but was very good. I have ordered five fighters from shaolin. Wondering if Of cooks and kung fu is any good and if he has more than 2 fights. And what other ninja lo rei movies have you seen him in? Not that I would buy or watch those or anything, even if they were on cable. :p

And robert tai's work in secret rivals 3 was spectacular. I have been trying to think of a way to describe him. I think I will call him slippery. And the kid who keeps on saying "you just wait , my dad will make you pay for this" from ninja in dragon's den was my favorite character in this. Well maybe the director of the classic fist of legend 2 robert tai was my fav. And liu is pretty freaking sweet, but lo rei was not exactly up to standard. Pertty good movie. And the dvd from videoasia:mad: looks lke they just needed to blow the dust off the print and it would ahev been better. But no real damage. Not quite a liu top 10 performance, but still great.

And I know you love dorian tan, check out eight escorts, with LILY LI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And if you have seen that then check out boxer's adventure, my favorite dorian performance.

Almost forgot. Ninja and dragon's is comin out. I may get that too, but on the cover it says from the student of sonny chiba. If you don't remember this trailer, it was the one where it looked like sanada was fighting the guy with the cape and the mask, and then the masked guy had a baby at one point. But I thought that this one seemed like the best movi on ther with 3 constables and the one where they are sowrd fighting in the rain with umbrellas in their hands.

tell me what you think.

Or basically a flashier stunt version of Muay Thai?

How effective do you think a knee to your weiner or testicle from Tony Jaa would be? just curious.

Or what about if he elbowed you in the throat?

BTW, how come no one remembered to list Sammo Hung?!

He did some great movies like Prodical Son, Warriors 2, Mr Vampire. Plus Martial Law!

weenerz and throat shots hurt from like anybody(1 more than the other.)

I felt like he was representing thailand and going to prove that thai is the best. i thought he did a wonderful job of that. I don't think like donnie or jackie could do that stuff. Donnie would definitely look better at it, btu no way he would match jaa.

Did Sammo Hung really take up Wing Chun all these years after Prodical Son and Warriors 2?

jethro:
Of Cooks and Kung Fu has Chang Shan in only about a couple of fights, and IMO he is not as impressive as he is in Seven Steps of Kung Fu and Shaolin Vs. Lama. As for the Lo Rei ninja film(s) where he fights Chang Shan, I really can't remember the title(s). I saw them back in Taiwan, on video, back in the late 1980s. Only that Lo Rei's character got to beat the heck out of Chang Shan's character, which I thought sucked.

My favorite all-around scenes in Death-Duel of Kung Fu were the slow-mo shot of Wang Tao flying side-kicking Han Ying (or his double's) face full-force, and John Liu's second fight with the "imperial guards" and the interesting ways he uses those right-leg kicks.

I'll have to check out those Tan Tao-Liang films.

boxer's adventure is great. Not quite as hard hitting as 2 great cavaliers:p but a movie I consider almost on the same level as J. Chan's "The Young Master".

Eight escorts I thought was VERY good, a TON of fighting from the great li-li-li, but too much double work for her. But overall a final fight that I was pretty pleased with.

You have prbably seen "challenge of death", so check it out if you haven't, not exactly a great don wong performance but a WONDERFUL FILM!!!!!!!

EASILY my favorite part of death duel si the doubled scene:p But an awesome final fight, and super-duper awesome fights between liu and tao.
BTW-that kick by tao gave me a really good thrill, btu on second viewing it wasn't an impact cause it was the same as secret rivals. Good movie though.

Five fighters from shaolin-yer right, could have been better, but I am only speaking of the final fight, that was a great movie.

BTW-last 2 GREAT movies I have seen would be #1-Shaolin Intruders, #2-Dirty Ho.

And I will guess that I will be the first one on here to talk about my new future favorite movie-N and Dragons. (I don't think sanada is in this).
