Hello hakka jai, which of the three Lijia (李家) family styles do you mean?

- Xinhui Lijiaquan(新會李家拳) of Li Youshan (李友山) (like the Li in Choy Li Fut)
- Huizhou Lijiaquan (惠州李家拳 Hakka style) of Li Yi (李義)
- Meixian Lijia (梅縣李家教) or Tieniu Lijiajiao (客家-李家教) Iron Ox Lijia Hakka style) of Li Tieniu (李鐵牛)

Hello Fung Ngan,

Do you happen to know which of these (Hakka) Li Styles were partly introduced into the curriculum of Pack Mei Pai?

Kind regards,
South Paw

Hello South Paw,

The Lijia Cheung Lai Chun (Pak Mei) learned from his master Li Mung (李朦) was Huizou Lijiaquan. He learned from Li Yi (李義 1747-1828) the founder of Huizhou Lijia (in Cantonese Waichow Lee Gar). Cheung Lai Chun was born in Waichow East River Area. This style is still taught in Huizhou/Waichow. See:

Hello Fung Ngan,

Thanks for your swift reply, and extra details.
The chinese text was very helpful to understand the history & characteristics of Huizhou Lijia.

Hi Hakka Jai,

Xinhui Lijiaquan(新會李家拳) of Li Youshan (李友山) was said to be passed to Li Youshan (from Guangdong Xinhui) by the Southern Shaolin monk Li Shikai (李色開). One of the 5 family styles see:
http://www.946.com.cn/fskh/8/gu41.html

- Meixian Lijia (梅縣李家教) or Tieniu Lijiajiao (客家-李家教) Iron Ox Lijia Hakka style) of Li Tieniu (李鐵牛 1778-1874).

Phillip Lam of New Zealand taught Li Gar Gao and had the nick name of "ghost hands"

if any one knows of him or has information and stories about the training and system much appreciation

he is also known as the "father of NZ mauy thai" and i think in the end he went more in that direction publically, and taught only a few Li Ga Gao ...

so also interested in Hakka Li ga Gao style informations too

thanks~

edit .. sorry my old memory had the name wrong PHILLIP LAM
