Yes, I long ago learned the art of the ninja post. My master was a venerable old man who I have mentioned before; master Bendan Diannao

According to our good friends at Ask A Ninja, today is The Sixth Annual Day of the Ninja (http://askaninja.a.wiki-site.com/index.php/Main_Page).

Shouldn't it be Night of the Ninja?

My 2007: Year of the Ninja (http://ezine.kungfumagazine.com/forum/showthread.php?t=45577) didn't pan out the way I had hoped. Ninjas are hard to predict that way.

Golden years, black belt: 71-year-old excels at martial arts (http://www.southwestiowanews.com/site/news.cfm?newsid=20218855&BRD=2703&PAG=461&dept_id=627131&rfi=6)

Don't let her slight stature and quiet demeanor fool you. Dorothy Fugate could toss you over her head in a heartbeat.

Fugate, 71, received her second-degree black belt in To-Shin Do, the study of the Japanese martial art of ninjutsu, during a promotion demonstration Tuesday at Inner Power Martial Arts. Fugate did a demonstration of her skills, and took part in a free response, which means she was required to deal with whatever, or whoever, came at her. Attackers came at her from various angles and using various weapons.

"During the demonstration, she took a guy 6 feet 2 inches tall, weighing about 250 and threw him right over her head," said Al Kleinkauf, owner of Inner Power and Fugate's instructor. "It's like I tell my students... nobody is getting younger, stronger or faster. We have to get smarter."

Fugate has been studying martial arts for nearly 11 years. "I never thought I would make it this far," Fugate said. A mother of five, and grandmother of 10, Fugate was taking square dance lessons at the North Platte Senior Center when a staff from a local martial arts academy showed up for a demonstration.

"A couple of friends and I took lessons as a lark," Fugate said. "We laughed our way through the first two weeks." For someone Fugate's age and small stature to achieve the level she has is nothing short of amazing, Kleinkauf said. "It's the most remarkable thing I've seen in my 22 years of teaching," Kleinkauf said. "She has fought her way through heart problems, strains and broken bones to stay with this. There are many people who could do this and don't."

Fugate has no plans to stop training anytime soon.
"Many people receive a black belt and think they are done," she said. "There are 10 degrees in the art, and each degree of training is different. First-degree black belt is when the serious training starts."

Martial arts is only one of the energetic Fugate's interests. She participates in 5K road runs, and loves to go dancing two or three times a week. She also rides her bike, rollerblades and exercises in cardio rehab five mornings a week.

Who's seen ATTACK OF THE KILLER TOMATOES?

It turns out Killer Tomato Entertainment, Inc. along with Kent Nichols and Douglas Sarine of Ask A Ninja, will be developing a remake.

"The original picture spawned a generation of entertainers inspired by the irreverent and hilarious political satire created by John DeBello, Costa Dillon and Steve Peace. The sublime comedy Kent and Douglas have created for New Media is both brilliant and hilarious -- they are the perfect team to bring 'Killer Tomatoes' into the 21st Century,"
