"Bangkok Dangerous 2.0" Premieres in Hong Kong (http://english.cri.cn/3086/2008/09/04/176s402219.htm)
The crime film "Bangkok Dangerous 2.0" premiered in Hong Kong on Wednesday.

The lead actress, veteran Hong Kong actress Charlie Yeung, who plays a mute girl in the movie, attended the press conference before the premiere.

Charlie Yeung said in order to play her character well, she spent many days living with deaf and mute patients. She also picked up some sign language.

Hong Kong singer and actress Gigi Leung, who is a close friend of Charlie Yeung, also attended the premiere.

"Bangkok Dangerous" is written and directed by the Pang Brothers and stars Hollywood star Nicolas Cage. It is a remake of the Pangs' 1999 debut film of the same name, a Thai film for which Cage's production company, Saturn Films, purchased the remake rights.

This story deals with a killer Joe (Nicolas Cage) who goes to Bangkok on an assignment to kill four people. He hires a pickpocket Kong as his assistant and meets a beautiful deaf and mute girl (Charlie Yeung) along the way whom he falls in love with. After many twist and turns, Joe's conscience gets a jolt.

I have yet to watch the original. Sounds like an interesting story.

this movie was aweful no wonder it floped so horribly dispite being number one. i think it would have been better with another star besides nic cage. and a better script wouldn't have hurt either.

It had to fizzle out soon. I heard last weekend was the worst box in 7 years. Nevertheless, I find it very interesting that Cage would want to do a remake of this film in Thailand. Thai film is really exciting now. They've taken HK cinema and added their own indigenous sensibilities (which includes a lot of patriotism). Which is why we're covering it in our e-zine - it's a barometer of the progress of Thai film.

well i don't know if bangkok dangerous can be considered a thai film, although it was shot in thailand the director are chinese but starting with bangkok dangerous thy shot a series of films there including bangkok haunted and bangkok for sale. thai filsm like the one's tony jaa star in are really boring without the action there are no real plots and are very similar to pornagraphy in that every dialogue scene is just a reak till the next bit of action and so like porn i just usually skip to the good stuff and cut out all the jibber jabber(**** i'm on a mean streak today, guess because i had to direct this boring ass ibm industrial, its all ibm's fault guys don't blame me) although they do have patriotic undertones which is ok sometimes but not all the time i mean come on, its like spike lee films back in the day first few tinmes it was like ok people are racist against blacks but then it was like oh god we get we get it do something else already. and then he did inside man(which still had the undertones but it was toned down alot). so i want to see something defferent from thai filmmakers the pangs don't count cause their from HK not thailand and got there start in HK.i want to see character development plots something. i want to see a real ****ing movie from them.chocolate showed that they have an idea now they gotta build on t.
