this is just a guess...but, I'd say people that bust their ass that hard to just eat aren't going to waste a lot of energy fighting each other...plus, I betcha that local traditions and laws don't eff around with punishing people for breaking those laws and traditions.

'civil rights' at it's most basic:

you have the right to work hard and feed yourself and your family.

you have the right not to **** with other people.

that reminds me of an old, old joke:


this guy is in basic and is last in line to get a rifle but they ran out
his drill seargent tell's him that's ok, just hold his arms like he's got one
and point it at the other guy and go 'bangity bang bang'
so, the guy goes all through basic training this way and never gets a rifle
he gets all the way to the front line and complains again about not having one
his platoon seargent just says 'that's ok just do what they told you in basic'
of course the guy thinks it's nuts but he does it anyway and sure enough,
the enemy soldiers fall down dead, except for one who keeps running at him
and the guy keeps going 'bangity bang bang' but the other guy just keeps coming
and suddenly our buddy goes down
and as the enemy guy runs past him he hears "tankity tank tank"
