Still highly cooperative, too cooperative ... one sidekick stops a lone attack as two or three guys stand aside and wait for their cue to come in.

Good movement and good ability. Can never take that away from CMA-inspired MA. But some padded body armer and a closed, caged mask and foam sticks would produce more realistic training.

As for breaking the boards and the flips, well...

And for the self throws...

A for effort and showman ship. C - for realistic execution.

Any similar SAS videos floating around?

Unbeknowest to many civilians, day old donuts function quite well as shuriken !

It was a demo Ray, all demos are cooperative.

Making training videos available to the public is imo a little silly for organisations such as this.
It gives "the enemy" a heads up.

ergo, all demonstration videos of this sort are self defeating.

from what the chief says, it works just the opposite. They see the level of training, intensity, skill, and all around craziness, and it lets them know that they are up against a team of Navy Seals, rather than a group of Mall Security guards. It gives them a psychological edge.

Much of what passes as "military" or "police" training is too instill toughness and as a psychological weapon (as mentioned)....

Having seen the Taiwan police college material under Chang's era, I think Chang's conservatism ruled and much of what was done was stuff they actually expected to use. Now it seems the first statement is more true

I would never pay that much attention to what demos and videos show of special police or military units.
They never show the good stuff, they show enough to "oh and ah" those that don't know any better.
SO you basically get the idiots thinking they are "uber deadly" and the bad guys thinking they "aren't so bad".
Over and under estimation have their benefits.

Yea. And obviously they aint planning on Kung Fu fighting with the bullet resistant shields and platoon of armed men.

That's because they stop at the ground control portion of the demo... which is oftentimes very far from the ending point.

As Ray points out much of SWAT training is about advanced use of firearms and covert entry techniques. When you are depending on sneaking up close with your MK5 or plinking off guys from a block away with your sniper rifle it matters little how good your side-kick is.

Greetings,

Though interesting, I prefer the psychological techniques of Spetnaz.

During a tense hostage situation, the Spetnaz was called in. They succeeded in infiltrating, grabbing and, then, quietly leaving the terrorists the head of one of their group to look at and ponder. The hostages were quickly released.
