It's the latest from Baa-Ram-Ewe, who brought us T (http://ezine.kungfumagazine.com/ezine/article.php?article=579)ony (http://ezine.kungfumagazine.com/forum/showthread.php?t=35382) J (http://ezine.kungfumagazine.com/ezine/article.php?article=678)aa (http://ezine.kungfumagazine.com/forum/showthread.php?t=42625), Dynamite Warrior (http://ezine.kungfumagazine.com/forum/showthread.php?t=47518) and Chocolate. (http://ezine.kungfumagazine.com/forum/showthread.php?t=49620) It's basically Spider (http://ezine.kungfumagazine.com/ezine/article.php?article=528)man (http://ezine.kungfumagazine.com/ezine/article.php?article=708) remade by Thai Buddhist Muay Thai fighters. There's some really good stuff in here, mostly from the Thai spin on filmmaking. The fights are fun, although not as mindblowing as the rest of Panna Rittikrai's work. They aren't filmed well, adopting the quick-cut style of comic movies instead of the long sustained shots, which is a shame because the actors all seem capable of longer choreographic dialogs. But still, it's Baa-Ram-Ewe, so the fights do deliver - the first catfight is in the first 15 minutes. There's a good rave fight that's almost tokusatsu (http://ezine.kungfumagazine.com/forum/showthread.php?t=53001)/videogame absurd. The final fight is fun mostly because of the villians get up. It's got some nice location shots (Ankor Wat, Himalaya, Bangkok), some cheesey CGI (they are smart enough to render Mercury Man powerless for the mano-a-mano fight scenes), the hero's sibling is a perfect slice of Thailand done with respect and dignity instead of caricature (I caught on instantly but I'm curious if others won't), the villians speak English (despite being Muslim terrorists played by Thai actors), but I really doubt they know what they're saying because each line is delivered so completely flat that's it's almost comical, and Americans are evil weapons vendors and stupid tourists. I really liked the Buddhist themes and was pretty entertained from start to finish, but then again, I enjoyed Dynamite Warrior.

I really want to hit someone with a flying elbow strike to the top of the skull. That just looks dope.

Thai fireman in 'spider-man' rescue of autistic boy (http://news.yahoo.com/s/afp/20090324/od_afp/thailandchildrenoffbeat)
Tue Mar 24, 4:37 am ET

BANGKOK (AFP) – A Thai fireman turned superhero when he dressed up as comic-book character Spider-Man to coax a frightened eight-year-old from a balcony, police said Tuesday.

Teachers at a special needs school in Bangkok alerted authorities on Monday when an autistic pupil, scared of attending his first day at school, sat out on the third-floor ledge and refused to come inside, a police sergeant told AFP.

Despite teachers' efforts to beckon the boy inside, he refused to budge until his mother mentioned her son's love of superheroes, prompting fireman Sonchai Yoosabai to take a novel approach to the problem.

The rescuer dashed back to his fire station and made a quick change into a Spider-Man costume before returning to the boy, he said.

"I told him Spider-Man is here to rescue you, no monsters are going to attack you and I told him to walk slowly towards me as running could be dangerous," Somchai told local television.

The young boy immediately stood up and walked into his rescuer's arms, police said.

Somchai said he keeps the Spider-Man costume and an outfit of Japanese television character Ultraman at the station in order to liven up school fire drills.

Oh, sorry about the lack of PC in my post, I prostrate myself before the court of public opinion.
:D

That transgendered KB lost in a fight with a "fully gendered" female, just in case anyone was wondering.
