MAC virus (http://tech.yahoo.com/blogs/null/117188)

MACs are immune to viruses ... (see above link)

Eye gouges don't work ... Anthony Johnson v Kevin Burns (http://tech.yahoo.com/blogs/null/117188)

Head kicks are useless ... Crocop v Gonzaga (http://www.leechvideo.com/video/view3092893.html)

What other myths can we bust on this forum?

Nobody with an ounce of sense has ever claimed Macs are virus-immune. That said, there's lots of people out there without an ounce of sense, particularly when it comes to computers. I used to occasionally clean viruses off of Macs years ago when I worked at my college's IT help desk. Not that common, though; Apple's low market share in the PC market has insulated them fairly well since very few people bother to make viruses for them.

They make them because they can.

Exactly it. I've known/known of a number of people who've either made but never deployed a virus, or made totally benign but annoying ones to install on friends' computers. Like hacking, the vast majority of it is a "because it's there"-style challenge.

Part of the reason they do it is for the power. One person sitting alone in a room can effect so much just by typing out an idea.

Just like why we climb mountains, sky dive and schalack strippers, not because its a good idea, but because we can !!

Yup. :D

Screencap from the actual show. I think he's just doing the righteous indignation thing, but it's a sweet pic nonetheless. Can't take credit for it though; just got lucky on a google image search.
