The Fourth USKSF North Regional Tournament will be held in Madison, WI, on Saturday May 30th 2009 at the Alliant Energy Center Exhibition Hall - www.alliantenergycenter.com

This will be an all-Chinese Martial Arts tournament organized by the USKSF North Region Director - Nelson Ferreira, the Zhong Yi Kung Fu Association and sanctioned by the United States Kuoshu Federation (U.S.K.S.F.) - www.usksf.org

The U.S.K.S.F. is dedicated to the promotion of Chinese Kuoshu (Kung Fu), Friendship, Unity, Physical Fitness, Harmony, Ethics, Moral Character and Peace around the world. The U.S.K.S.F. also hosts the annual National and International Chinese Kuoshu Championships in Hunt Valley, MD.

The tournament will have several divisions expansions for forms (empty hand, weapons, two-person sets, internal, etc...) and fighting competitions (including light contact, weapon sparring, bridging hands, push hands and the Lei Tai event -full contact fighting. There will be divisions for youth, men, women and seniors. All events will adhere to the U.S.K.S.F. format for judging criteria and all judges will undergo training to be qualified judges and/or referees for this event.

We hope all of you will come out and support this event as competitors, judges, referees, volunteers and/or spectators. We welcome all Chinese style martial artists and Chinese martial arts schools regardless of style or affiliation. This is an opportunity to meet new friends and get together with old ones, the main concept behind the tournament is to make the Chinese martial arts grow in our area through friendship and cooperation. We hope our format can accommodate just about everybody.

There'll be vendors and exhibitors on hand with supplies and cultural presentations.

We will also offer FREE seminars and referee training in the coming weeks leading to the event, check the website for info on subjects, times and places.

Keep in mind that this is the World Kuoshu Championship (in Germany) year, so it's a great way to get ready for the national qualifiers in Hunt Valley, MD!

Hey everyone! Hope you all received the info packets and if there's anyone else that needs any just let me know.

We just added four more events to the tournament, thanks to the support from a Wushu school:

Wushu Taolu Men

Wushu Taolu Women

Wushu Weapon Mens

Wushu Weapon Womens

So it no longer is traditional only, not only can you compete with contemporary Chinese martial arts in the Wushu divisions but also the Open Taijiquan event as well.

This makes it a total of 107 events!!

See you guys in 5 weeks!

We just uploaded our promo for this years tournament. Keep in mind that last year we had it at a high school gym, but this year it will be at the Exhibition Hall at the Alliant Energy Center, much nicer venue and we may actually have a raised Lei Tai (negotiotions still pending) for the event.

Here's the video link:

Just a reminder,

The Pre-registration deadline is tomorrow (5/22)! To save $10.00 on your registration fee make sure your registration is post-marked by tomorrow.

We will have day-of registration, however it'll be $10.00 more... and there's more chaos to deal with.

And remember, on Friday 5/29 from 7:00pm to 8:30pm Shifu Marty Goldberg will be holding a clinic/seminar on Bridging Hands and Double Short Weapons at the Clarion Suites Hotel meeting rooms, the cost? FREE, that's right! The USKSF North Region and Watchful Dragon Kwoon are offering this seminar FREE OF CHARGE! Don't miss it!

For more info view the website: www.usksfnorth.org

Or email me at: usksf@zykfa.org

See you guys (and gals) there!

This was a FIVE STAR tournament. *****

USKSF North Regional tournament that was held this weekend in Madison, Wisconsin was very good! The ZYKFA did a good job with it. There were 21 schools present and 91 competitors. Yes small, but put together well. There were many divisions for all of the competitors to compete in. Nei Jia, Tao Lu, Lei Tai, Push Hands, Bridging Hands and weapons fighting were all part of the tournament. It all started with a Lion dance involving 3 schools -Green Dragon Kung Fu of Minneapolis/St. Paul, Minnesota, Zhong Yi Kung Fu Association of Madison, Wisconsin and Wei Yong Martial Arts Association of Appleton, Wisconsin. It was sweet...showing that we are all family. I would highly recommend anyone that is in the area (or can make it to this tournament) to show up and see what it’s all about. I'm already looking forward to next year’s weekend!
Good Job Shifu Ferreira and the ZYKFA CLAN...
