hmm, good clips but... I did not see much of the so called 'mantis hand',, or those low stances or sweeps I heard so much about. Was this souther style mantis? Where can i see the north style?

Go to the mantis section, and download mantis_hua. This is a version of bung bo, the most common form in northern mantis. It is a little more flashy than the way I do it, but I really like his performance.

Don't waste your time downloading the other mantis vids. They are both of the same wushu routine. Try as I may, I can't find any useful technique in it.

thank u!!

is the other stuff just wushu?(bagua, eagle, sparring, nan quan) or is it the real, traditional stuff?

Mantis looks really cool. but isn't it kinda easy to tripp and fall down when doing those fast small jumps? I thought he looked kinda unbalanced, what would happen if someone attacked his legs while doing this?
I'd love to try out mantis some day....

The majority of the site is dedicated to modern wushu. If you go back one directory (click on "wushu videos") there is some tournament footage. On one of those pages there is a whole section of "traditional" forms. Last I looked, they were listed by performer, not art. I haven't had the chance to d/l them yet.

As far as those "little jumps"... they are leg kicks themselves. And what if you tried to kick the legs of a northern mantis practicioner? That is one purpose of the "mantis stance", to keep a leg light and mobile.

I just saw the Bung Bu clip. Very interesting interpretation of the form! Like JJ Mantis said, it is played with much lower stances than I do it. Still pretty interesting though. You can see the modern wushu influence in how the form was played, but fun to watch.

To Kristopher, you may wanna check out Master Su Yu Chang's site. In the mantis section he is playing the Lan Jie form. Here is the website http://trinity.psnw.com/~ycsu/
