I like buddies reverse steal step and spin to avoid silva's right side kick more...what was he trying to do?

lol thats great.

but of course its mma so it cant possibly be attributed to any form of tma.

anyhow, wtf is up with you and your .gif posts do you make the .gifs or something?

Technically not a stealing step as the hips weren't leading. That was cool as f@ck though!

I think there’s a similar move in northern 7 star mantis.

My question is why wasn't there a follow through with a second technique? Not to second guess Silva, but that technique begs for a combonation to follow.

especially when you regard his opponents reaction to the kick....he turned his freaking back!

If you saw the fight, it was because he was too busy playing it safe to follow up anything. The little step kick he did only happened once and seemed more like a joke to kind've show he was in "Control" of the fight.

ahh.. that makes sense. but he joke woulda been funnier if he followed it up with a sidekick :D

Maybe it didn't fit the form. ;)

It's a pretty common movement in capoeria. I remeber training it but don't remember the name.

I have the stealing step in choy lay fut and never use it in a way that resembles that. It's interesting that some cma do

I've recently started incorporating this into my sparring.

I call it the "Anderson Silva". It'll be sweet when I sweep someone with it.

He didn't avoid anything, he got the cRap knocked out of his ankle.

If the other guy just escapes his left leg and then sweep (or scoop) under that kicking leg then it will be a big trouble for the guy who tries this move. If his opponent is not good in "leg escaping - it takes some training" then all he needs to do is to use his left hand to grab on that sweeping leg and then "run his opponent down".

What kind of balance do you have when you try a move like this? Whenever you cross your legs, you just ask for trouble.
