Tunes are cool. Way better with just the melodies.
The one with dfw doing the wu dip do is a cool tune. what is it?

phuc, i forget what songs i use once i complete the video. I just choose what instrumentals have the fight feel, i use my gut (not my belly ;)) to figure it out.

Frank Primicias (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hJaZ4-6yY8U)

I met Frank back in the early 80s in Poway, Ca.
One of my old advanced students had moved out here ahead of me and taken up training with him.

That's the first quarter(roughly) of our lineage's Siu Kau Da Kuen. Although slightly different than the way we do it at our school.

I don't know if this film is common, or considered rare footage....but here is Shek Kin from Enter The Dragon.......

The form is called Won Hop Kuen, which roughly translated to mixed combination fist and as the name implies it mixed various systems Shek Kin learned such as tong long, ying jow, siu lum, etc...

hskwarrior

cool......before this, i'd never seen him perform his gung fu. outside the movies i mean.

The guy is the real deal and trained with many notable sifus. He trained in 6-7 different styles. I have learned a few of the sets he passed along to my sifu during their traveling days together.

hskwarrior
04-28-2009, 10:32 AM
Yeah joe said he learned this form too.

CLFNole
04-28-2009, 10:37 AM
Yeah Joe and a couple of others learned this. I really don't get into northern hand sets so much so I never wanted to learn it. Northern hand sets have a different power generation and feel. I was more interested in Shek Kin's weapon sets so I learned those.

hskwarrior

that's hella cool. what weapons did you pick up from him?

CLFNole

We have a northern spear set (very cool), 3-section staff and 3-sec staff vs. spear. There was also a siu so gee/small sweeper (looks like nunchaku but with one stick longer and dan do set (the same as the picture pose you have in the clip) but I don't know if sifu taught that one to anybody.

There are some other clips of Shek Kin out there if you search. One I recall of him doing double broadswords.

Thanks for posting the vid of Master Frank Primicias. He's my CLF sifu. The set is named "defensive" and "offensive" set. That's the only name we have for it. Sifu Primicias learned it from Sigung John Lem.

hskwarrior

wow, i didn't know he learned from john lem, i thought it was Doc Fai Wong's form.

be interesting to know the origins of that form.......

John Lem also learned from Professor Lau Bun.

hskwarrior:
Sifu Primicias began CLF under Sifu Howard Lee in the early or mid-1960s, then continued his advanced training under Sigung John Lem for ten years. Most of his material is directly from Sigung Lem. It's my understanding he learned from Doc-Fai Wong,
but I'm not sure to what degree, and I don't want to speak for Sifu Primicias. But prior to CLF, he was a black belt in Kajukenbo under Sensei Tokumoto.

I trained continuously under Sifu Primicias from 1993 to 2004, and we still remain in contact today; I just saw him last week at his house.
