I recently competed in the advanced 173.8pd division in Vancouver.
This is the first fight I had that day. I had two more and won gold in the end.
Enjoy!

PS I can't tell you guys how many times I've had someone watch that and tell me to check kicks. I know! I do in the gym...sometimes...but that day, for whatever ****ed up reason, I did not.

Checking kicks is for pussies, take it like a man !!!

:D

Good work, on a serious note, if you find that checking kicks is
not your "thing", work on moving in and hitting when they go to kick.

I've been doing that a lot lately. Sadly I trained that a lot and then didn't do it in the fight.
I've been training with a 6'6 heavyweight with crazy reach...really working on my distance and his leg kicks are brutal, I've been going straight to that move every time but he's too far. I have a feeling that fighting people my own size is going to be much easier after the sessions we've been putting in.

What you can do is work on that "move your leg out of the way and come back and hit him on the same beat" thing, it can work real well for some.

Yeah, that's one of those things that doesn't happen in training...which is why I compete...to learn new things. I don't usually rush at guys when they're hurt but during the fight, he was in a lot of pain from the back kick...I only wish they didn't make those things mandatory this year. Last year I got a TKO from a body kick...this year, no such luck.

better yet... catch the kick and dump him on his head a few times.... he'll slow down with the kicks.....

I do in training...but it didn't happen here for some reason.
However, my wrestling held together defensively and offensively and my in and out striking held up...which are two things I've worked on a lot...so it was good.
Now to check kicks!:)

Hey, can you tell us which one is you?

Also are you a CLF guy?

Peace

Oops!
I'm the guy in the red sprawl shorts.
I had several people ask me if I was CLF.
I trained Black Tiger, a Hung Gar derivative, but now focus on San Shou.
