I would love other people's opinions on this-
Traditionally, what were the 3 or 4 BIG days in a Kung Fu school?

I learned them as--
1-Bai si
2-Chinese New year
3-Sifu's birthday
4-Gate Keeper of the system by the sifu

1, New Year
2, 10/10
3, Sifu wife's birthday
p,s, my teacher did not believe in bai si, or at least downgraded it so it be insignificant.

funny, I had learned them as:
1) scheduled payday for Sifu
2) unscheduled payday for Sifu
3) paying for dinner for Sifu
4) paying for Sifu to pay for diner for Sifu's friends

BUT SERIOUSLY FOLKS!

for my current school, it is Chinese New Years, which is referred to as our Annual Tao Gathering;

Not familiar with that term?

The October 10th (10/10) speech of Chen Shuibian who delineated Taiwan as a separate entity from Communist China. It's mostly a KMT thing. But as it is the KMT that has propagated most of the Kungfu in North America and outside of China through it's various organizations all over the world, it is celebrated in Kungfu schools.

Many approach it as Taiwan independence and as a victory for the KMT over communists.

Not familiar with that term?New to me too. It's probably this:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Double_Tenth_Day

Double Ten Day (traditional Chinese: 雙十節; pinyin: Shuāng Shí Jié) is the national day of the Republic of China (ROC) (commonly known as Taiwan since the 1970s) and celebrates the start of the Wuchang Uprising of October 10, 1911, which led to the collapse of the Qing Dynasty in China and establishment of the Republic of China on January 1, 1912. It is therefore also known as National Celebration Day (traditional Chinese: 國慶日; simplified Chinese: 国庆日; pinyin: Guóqìng Rì).
