When is someone gonna lay the hardtalk on China and insist that they stop killing their own people for protesting?

http://www.cbc.ca/world/story/2009/07/05/china-uighurs.html

This seems to be the Chinese Government solution to political opposition or discontent. IE: Let's just kill them and then it will get quiet.

Ridiculous and shameful.

Do you guys even have guidelines as to what goes where MK? I don't think it has been properly noted with an announcement or a sticky as to where topics should go and they certainly aren't being moved in any sort of a sorted way.

so help us out here.

:p

moslem riots are not new.

ever since the incorporation of new territory or xin jiang during qing dynasty

there were 2 major uprisings and shook the foundation of qing.

--

agreed that whatever the riots are about

the government and the police/security have to be careful

how to use peaceful and non violent methods to disperse the crowd

that is the question.

?

tear gas, water cannons, pepper spray, tasers, etc etc.

All of these are preferable to live fire into a crowd which is what China usually does without ever questioning how to do it more peacefully.

There would be no riots if the Chinese government weren't an oppressive and repressive institution to begin with. It would also help if the Chinese people could pull themselves out of their stupor of thinking that the Governement needs to do such things to maintain order.

Productive people are happy people, not slaves under the boot of some hardline dictator, be it a committee or an individual.

the more that China insists on executing domestic policy like this, the longer they will not have any credibility on the world stage.

From reading comments here, I thought the Chinese government was the best. Everyone says so. I'm sure the protest "accident" was unfortunate but change is really taking place in China...be it a slow process.
