When you're training for a fight every Tom, **** and Harry has to tell you about every fight they've been in and two-weeks of training in Tae Kwon Do they have. And then afterwards, especially if you loose, everyone is so full of advice.... that you should've done this or that. Next time you could do this. And then, on the street, they want to demonstrate their two bit move to you.

****, you'd think the world was full of bare-handed killers. And yet it's so hard to find a good, reliable sparring partner.

****, you'd think the world was full of bare-handed killers. And yet it's so hard to find a good, reliable sparring partner.that's simply because the best partner you can have isn't what you think it should be...

This isn't isolated to martial arts. When my first book was published, I got endless accounts about how someone's teacher liked their stories in kindergarden, the ideas people had for a better ending to my book, or about the book someone was going to write when they could find the time, etc...

People just get excited through proxy.

No, it was about the importance of young men having older non-family role models to influence them. I doubt you would be interested. No giant asteroids or laser guns going woosh woosh.

Every story you have is of you getting beat up. Hardly proof of anything except your ability to take a beating, which, by the looks of you, is probably more advantageous to your prolonged survival, anyway.

if it holds true, we take the advice.

if not, just some rambling or noises. ignore them.

as long as we do not lose our goal or center of attention.

when I was a little kid growing up in the 1960s. My dad would play records from 1920s and 1930s. They were highpitched female childish voices.

I found that they were much annoying.

I did not like them till much later. only when I was in college in 1980s, I started to appreciate them.

The emergence of Chinese "pop" music.

Tao Hua Jiang "Peach flower river" was composed in late 1920s. It was a smashing hit all over China and southeast Asia.

The documentary showed westerners living in Shanghai, Beijing, there were horserace, etc. China was exposed to and influenced by western culture.

So I was at this wedding reception last night... The reception is for one of my Judo buddies. He's good, probably one of the best Newaza fighters I know. At this reception, there's 4 of us Judo geeks- one of them is a former member of the Irish national team.

Here comes the annoying part-

As I'm leaving, I go to say goodbye to my buddie who just got married- he's in a small group of people- all wellwishers, they must have been talking a little about Judo since I was introduced as another of the Judo guys as I walk up on this group.

There's this big-chain-smoking-greasy-tall-fat-weazy-**** trying to hang with them. Of course he starts trying to talk martial arts- I don't talk about MA with non-martial artists. I just don't. So I just say that the groom happens to be one of the best groundfighters I know and leave it at that. This windbag goof says- "yeah, I'm pretty good at that $hit myself".

Why is it that these goons- who haven't done anything even remotely physical in their lives not even closely resembling competitive or any type of MA training feel the need to act like they have? and then they try to act like they can have some type of serious discussion on the topic with you...

Man that's annoying.

Know what's annoying? When you're drinking a glass of ice water in a restaurant, and there's a big clump of ice sticking to the side, then when you tilt the glass to take a sip it slides loose like a glacier so you splash water on your shirt and feel like a tard. That makes me madder than hell.

Or when the lane you're in suddenly ends on the freeway, and some A-hole is trying to merge at the same time so for about two seconds you think you're gonna die as you decide whether to speed up or slow down.
