This isn't WC, but in watching this I counted one takedown that I would consider legitimate based on the the Chin na, wrestling, and judo that I know.

This is Shiao jiou (sp) demo, it's a very old and respected chinese martial art. Many believe it to be a precursor to Judo.

Do the words "rehearsed demo" mean anything to you?

Nothing in that vid is legitimate.

It's a demo. Most of the throws appeared to be done with uke compliant and offering no resistance. It's not obvious at this distance what the mechanics of some throws are, some look like uke just fell over.

It doesn't mean they couldn't do them for real in a competitive or fight situation, but that demo shows no evidence for or against that.

I personally can't see the point of trying to extrapolate conclusions from videos, unless the videos are offered as some sort of evidence for or against an argument by those starring therein. That is not the case here.

If some one or a group does a demo: that automatically makes it not legit?
I guess unless it's a death match nothing is legit on this forum, WOW!
So I guess half of your students die every night in class, and yet they keep coming back? What the hell a group puts on a rehearsed demo, a group of practice drills therefore the whole martial is not legit.
Amazingly high standards Victor!

............................

***NO, but if people are falling down for apparently no reason, then the demo is not legit.

I have been a part of several martial arts demonstrations over the years. My first was when I only had a year of experience. I can't say that I was martial perfection in that demonstration. However, I think that people would have recognized me as a young student practicing legitimate techniques under the tutelage of a legitimate instructor.

Oops, I failed to mention that the bearded man is the head instructor.

you are right you can certainly tell if legitimate techniques are being practised in a demonstration.... and conversely you can also tell if what is being demonstrated is for the most part unworkable garbage.
