Just out of curiousity, I was wondering if any one out there knew anything about white eybrow/white dragon?I have heard only what I have read about it being a lost art and the little my sifu has told me. My sifu's freind is here from china and wants me to host a seminar with him, but without disrespecting my master I would like to know a little about it! before I agree. thank you for your responses.

I have never heard of White Dragon before. White eyebrow(Bak Mei Pai) however is still practiced. The style was created I believe about 300-400 years ago By the Monk Bok Mei, after leaving the shaolin temple. The style contains similar movements to Wing Chun/ Southern Mantis. I was taught the form 9 step push by a Sifu from hong Kong, it was a bit foreign to me being a Northern Shaolin Practitioner.
Anyway, the style is still out there. And is known I believe mostly for it's tight inside handwork, similar to Mantis but different.

thank you for your response, you have been the first one with any knowledge of this system. I guess the shifu is living in china town san fransico where I trained but have never met him, nor can I remember his name. I will do mostly whatever my shifu asks but I dont want to confuse my students! thnk you again for your response!

Earth Dragon,

As a Bak Mei practitioner I can tell you more about the above styles if you wish!

Bak Mei is based on the 5 Animals of Shaolin Kung Fu with the Taoists principles of Breathing and Qi culmination.
The style itself has a aggressive attitude towards fighting...(where most styles are defensive, offensive) Bak Mei practitioners firmly believe that our defense comes mainly from our attack.

That is not to be said that we do not have any defensive applications...we do have those as well.

Bak Mei is based on the 6 powers of the body, combined with the Taoists breathing exercises.
Bak Mei's hand strategy is extremely quick using basically what is called Geing Jik Ging (Scared Power). This basically means that our hands are soft until the point of contact then when we see the opening we strike using all 6 powers of the body.

Bak Mei footwork utilises what we call Triangle footwork, which gives very quick feet manoeuvres to get inside our opponents guard and break his/her bridge.

As for the forms in Bak Mei there are 10 hand forms with 2 sparring forms and various weapons.

Everyone starts with Jik Bo Kuen (Straight Steps Fist), this is Bak Mei's heart and foundation.
Without being able to understand the meaning of Jik Bo, then no matter what ther form you learn in Bak Mei, u'll never progress to learn Bak Mei's true essence.

Anyway, I will leave it there. If you want more information please do not hesitate to contact me.

Earth Dragon,

Try re-posting on the southern forum. You will get more responses. Bak Mei and lung ying are well-known southern systems. Unfortunately, there aren't many instructors in the US.

Ying Ching(Green Swallow), spelled many different ways is a Great Broadsword set in the 7 Star Mantis System. It was named after a famous Swordsman.
I believe several other styles also have sword or Dao forms named after him.
