According to the flyer, it's at the High School auditorium on 100 Hester Street. I'm guessing there'll be kung fu demos from different styles...

These shows need to be updated.

Who has not seen dozens of slow boring tai chi routines done at the same show?

How many similiar looking forms need to be displayed performed by skinney kids ?.

How many blindfolded chi-sao do we need to see ?

And don't forget the chi master who thows students without physical contact.

Lions dance are fun for the first 15 minuites. Longer than that and I start looking at my watch.

The worst are the MCs. At one show the MC was a chinese girl.

She announced the form in cantonese as Moy Far Kune.

She then announced the form in English as Moy Far Kune with a western accent.

She had transliterated from cantonese into english , as opposed to translating.

any free food.

when I was working on south jersey in the 1990's.

I went to the cultural festival around september each year.

the autumn moon festival.

free pieces of taiwanese sausage, slice of moon cakes--

free tea--

they were provided by food company. nice sampling of free food.

--

my point is that these are free show of cultural activities

nobody really care that old people doing broken taichi or young kids doing not so good southern fist.

they are not professional--, just some old and young having fun

my favorite show would be taiwanese arboriginal dances

however, the lion and dragon dances are "professional" or more serious

--

oops. I am talking about chinatown in phillie.

I actually couldn't watch more than a few minutes of that. It was just painful.
Maybe later, after I've had my morning routine, and my h0mocystine levels are normal....
