Kung Fu guy teaches his students that ground work isn't necessary. Standard TMA stuff. He has a student who wins his MMA debut in 20 secs via TKO.

Suddenly Kung Fu guy and his student think they are unstoppable. So they have another MMA fight not long after.

Kung Fu guy's student loses this one:

Toward the end of the video, Kung Fu guy is screaming at his student to choke out the guy who has him mounted. Of course we all know that this isn't going to work. When this is pointed out to Kung Fu guy toward the end of the video, Kung Fu guy goes nuts and starts challenging everyone to a fight. (Listen to the audio around the last minute of the above video.)

The guy behind the Camera blows him off. Well a few days later, Kung Fu guy shows up with 15 of his students demanding a bare-knuckle fight against the guy who was holding the camera. Yep, the Kung Fu guy actually dojo stormed an MMA gym.

Here was the result:

OK, weird stuff (as usual on the internet) but;

Guy in the MMA fights seems to have at least some idea of striking, standing clinching and even looked in the second clip like he had worked some guard

the guy in the 3rd clip, the "challenge" didn't look like he had a clue

are we sure these events are related?

In the more info section it said that the fight is related.

Either way....the kung fu guy with his hands at his sides would have been knocked out quick by a good striker

Also if you notice the old man was controlling the center. If the fight would of kept standing I believe the old man would have won. Even though my philosophy on fighting is you have a 50% chance of winning and a 50% chance of losing.

I believe your statistic is only 87% correct 33% of the time.

60% of the time, it works all the time.

I agree that the older KF guy looked better rooted, but man, for a guy his size you would have expected something behind some of those few punches he got in.

And, I agree, the fighter in the earlier clips had ground game.

And, the older guy, his 'coach' didn't.

the old man obviously hasn't trained in a while.

Teaching is not fight training. Thinking you'll win because you think you're right is also egregious.

Also, I would expect a kungfu teacher of 'some' years to be a lot more mature about these kinds of things. Unless all those Shaw brother flicks are true! But even then, at least half of them would be virtuous to some extent.

In the end, oh well, more internet fudge.

mmmmfudge. :p

That was just ludicrous! ****!

Kung Fu has a lot to offer sport fighting in terms of certain stand up skills...but it lacks ground fighting like that of BJJ or wrestling and can't compete there with skilled guys.

As if this stupidity actually happens...and the coach/Sifu fights like that? ****!

I'm sure this kind of thing happened all the time back in the day. It just didn't get shared on youtube.

lol. In retrospect, yes, you're probably correct.

Yum, your remark is also revealing of a truth.

That teacher was clueless when it comes to fighting. I think the MMA camp was just as much a bunch of arseholes as the kung fu teacher. If you wanted to point out superior ground skills, he could have easily submitted him on the ground with a number of techniques. But to tell the guy not to submit the guy, but just beat on him when he's obviously clueless and over matched... shows why people give many MMA people a bad rep.
