I am a sifu of 8step praying mantis and moderate my own board (though not as big as KFO) but I do on a daily basis so if you need help just let me know! P.S scarlet mantis also said she would be interested in moderating. thanks lizmantis aka little mantis

Hey! What makes you think I'm a girl? Is it my feminine punctuation, my curvaceous syntax, or my intelligent posts?

No offence to you at all,..but you are a bit to "hot" in the patients department to be an effective moderator. Please take this into consideration even with opersonal attacks.
Best wishes to all.

No, I think Earth Dragon is right on the money when it comes to personal attacks.

A moderator of a quality outfit like KFO shouldn't tolerate attacks of any sort.

Attacks that are let unchecked are, in the public's eye, SANCTIONED by KFO.

I'd be a moderator too, but I've annoyed too many people to be taken seriously.

Difference of opinions is what makes the world go round I guess.
Mod's like sifus need to have a bit of Iron Skin & not reply in a derogotory fashion.
But then again, that is also why most respected sifus do not participate in this forum; they do not feel like putting up with non-moderated "moderated" forums. :D
I enjoy this place sometimes for the info, sometimes for the stupidity. Be assured though that once I start teaching I'll never be back here. Only fully moderated forums.
Best wishes to all,
BT

Part of the reason I am on this forum is becuse it was our federation A.C.M.A.F who approached KUNG FU MAG and launched the idea of a online martial arts forum! also one of our students was reponsible for the design and creation of this site. So therefore I admit that I do get a little hot when dealing with people that try to ruin this great idea with slandering and flamming wars, simply becuse I believe this forum has a good basis for asking questions, debating ideas and gathering information about all martial arts, however if we let a few bad apples spoil the freedom of speech act then this site would be no better than an Insulting chat room! So again If I approach someone with a tad personal twist you can sort of understand why! thank you

I can indeed see why people can get flustered & go off. I am one of them. I cannot agree that a fully moderated forum denies freedom of real dicussion in an informational forum. one forum only 1 person has been ejected in 4 years. It is _FILLED_ with contruversial indiduals that act in a proffesional manner, or at least tollerable.
I do not wish to see this forum change much at all,...but I believe that annonymous people being able to register is a bit ridiculous & not being able to delete them is even more so.
Other than that, I have enjoyed this place very much.
Everyone have a great day!
I am off to see the Musketeers!

Something for those moderators to be to consider.

Lizmantis had said she believed in "Freedom of Speech" which is why she acted the way she did. This bothered me for the last few days since that post. So I felt I should point a few things out.

I realize we do not all come from the United States, but "Freedom of Speech" is the focus of our First Amendment to our Constitution.
Granted The United States isnt exactly the ideal society, but I do think this explains what "Freedom of Speech" is.

The First Amendment (Freedom of Speech) protection is not limited to speech that advances high-minded ideas. It protects obnoxious and bigoted speech to the same extent. However, the First Amendment does have limits where the protection is diminished or nonexistent. These categories are 1. Obscenity 2. Child Pornography 3. Fighting Words 4. Threats 5. Incitement to Riot.

Such utterances are no essential part of any exposition of ideas and are of such slight social value as steps toward discovery of truth, that any benfit derived from them is outweighed by society's interest in order and morality.

Maybe I can volunteer myself to the moderation thing, I have experience in working as a network sys admin and also, moderating the forum and list server of that network.
