Differing caracteristics...

What would exactly differ the style of NORTHERN MANTIS to SOUTHERN MANTIS? From what I could some and remember from reading all those mags as a teen was that NM would be more of a long fist form, where as SM would be more of short fist form as that of HUNG GA and WING CHUN. Are the stances relevant to the geographic locations of their birth? And does SM encourage more of a trapping style, as of WING CHUN?

To finish...does anyone know where I can get a visual on the net of NM and SM?
