If it was a bodkin, he'd be dead. The broad head was slowed by the skull. Still, it had to have penetrated some of the brain by the looks of it. Unless of course the tip was only in water, which is also possible. :p

What an awesome Operating Room. It actually DOES look like a shop of sorts.

Also, it looks like the paramedics were called to the field. He was still conscious, but my guess is they laid him face down on the gurney to prevent the arrow from being bumped around in the ambulance.

Finally, it would seem to me that unintentional head shots are extremely rare.
