You may or may not know that, Frank Frazetta Jr., son of the art legend Frank Sr. was arrested last week. The charges? He and two other men broke into their father’s museum with a backhoe and were in the process of removing $20 million worth of art.

but the story (http://www.examiner.com/x-13081-Speculative-Fiction-Examiner~y2009m12d13-Fantasy-artists-son-involved-in-20-Mil-art-heist)get's even stranger (http://www.poconorecord.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20091217/NEWS/912170320). . .

once in 8th grade we took a field trip there and i bought a can of **** spray, which my mom took to liking so much that she sprayed me in the face with it when i acted up one day. :D

it's like 5 miles from my house... a local pocono attraction... funny, we made the national/international news twice in one week... sanofi is 4 miles up the road from my house, which is the place that made all those swine flu vaccinations that were just recalled - apparently they were "too safe" for people to use. :)

I hope frank jr. secures the paintings.

Frazetta is one of my own personal art-heroes.

I suppose he is that for a lot of people.

ya frazetta ftw. one cool thing to notice about his art, look at every painting/drawing of his heros/characters, one limb is always covered/blocked/phased/shaded out of the picture on the center point character.

boris vallejo and frank frazetta are art GODS!

frazetta was the pioneer in conan art. Hell he was the pioneer in sword and sorcery art work period.

I always liked his death dealer series. I remember being young and my sister had a molly hatch album and the cover was one of Frazetta's and i remember thinking that was the most awesome picture ever.

yea, a rip on the conan...maybe not intentional...just that there wasn't much new or inspiring about the stories...i guess i probably read them 20+ years ago...they are no longer in the permanent collection ;)

Lucas

ahh. ya i would probably like and hate that at the same time. big howard fan myself, i own most of his work. his stuff inspired me to write in the first place. the first story i ever wrote was a conan story.

just thought i'd update this thread, being that it is local news for me. :D

The Frazetta family feud is over.

World-renowned fantasy artist Frank Frazetta Sr. of Marshalls Creek, who has been embroiled in a legal battle with his son, Alfonso Frank Frazetta Jr., agreed to drop a trademark infringement lawsuit against Frank Jr. The suit alleged Frank Jr. appropriated the Frazetta trademark and artwork without the permission of its owner.

In a statement, family said "all the litigation surrounding his family and his art has been resolved. All of Frank's children will now be working together as a team to promote his remarkable collection of images that has inspired people for decades."

Last year, Frank Sr. turned day-to-day management responsibilities for his artwork over to Frazetta Properties LLC, which he wholly owns. The company is managed by his two daughters and son Bill, who is also owner of Frazetta Fantasy Costumes in East Stroudsburg. They will continue to oversee his collection and trademarks.

RIP: Frank Frazetta 1928-2010

confirm via Frazetta’s agent Robert Pistella that the artist passed away this afternoon in a hopital near his home. The cause of death was a stroke. (http://www.comicsbeat.com/2010/05/10/frank-frazetta-rip/)

Frank Frazetta wasn't the most prolific comic book artist (http://techland.com/2010/05/10/r-i-p-frank-frazetta/)

I was sad to hear of his passing. My first exposure to Frazetta's art was his work on the covers of the old Creepy and Eerie magazines back in the 1960s. Those comic magazines were among the first things I ever learned to read as a child, as well as my childhood interest in art; and those great covers were a big part of inspiring that interest in me (we can forget the question of whether those books were appropriate for a 4-year-old kid).
RIP, Frank Frazetta.
