Be thankful you have a job. A lot of Americans don't.

never said i wasnt thankful. doesnt change the fact it blows though. we are wasting money here, I hate seeing money wasted. but i thank myself, its all due to my efforts and hard work that i have a good job.

and before you think otherwise, i have been homless, did not graduate high school, lived on the streets and couches for a few years, and worked hard to make myself what i am today. i worked my way up without family from the very bottom.

I never made any assumptions or thoughts about where you came from. I'm just saying that there are a lot of people out there who wish they could complain about working today.

Apparently, we've had a "tent city" spring up here in Colorado Springs, and the people there need jobs, and they need help.

Even in my unit, we have several soldiers working 24 hour shifts over the holidays.

Hey Lucas;

I'm self-employed, so in a few hours I'll shut down, walk downstairs, have a nice dinner with the family, and then open presents.....

On the other hand, there is no wasting money around here! There's always something to do... I'm just doing something real slow right about now.....

you lucky duck you. i write fiction on the side, but with my work schedule its difficult to find real time to get into the zone and veg out on the computer screen with my words. hopefully some day ill have some of my work in finished formats and can maybe get something published. thats the goal anyway, about the only way i see myself working for myself. idk though, im having a hard time staying rooted. i really want do let the wind blow me somewhere, but im getting older and i know that i cant do that anymore or ill never have a foundation for my elder years to live on.

Well, staying alive these past two years has been a real challenge. I have managed to stay in business, but have not paid myself anything for 40+ hours of work per week... Hopefully the next 4 to 6 years will be a whole lot better.

On the other hand, not fighting traffic and not maintaining the truck and not gassing it does help some....

Take care! and...

Merry Christmas Lucas!

im glad yours was relaxing and safe. im a very rare drinker, the last several new years i laid low, but this time i went out.

went to this cool bar called shanghai tunnel (its a underground place fashioned out of a portion of the shanghai tunnels here in portland) drank a lot, but im not a crazy drunk. i did end up taking a 8 mile walk though to get home to my bed instead of sleeping on a couch. when i woke up i was pretty happy with my decision :D

all in all it was safe and fun though. lots of girls out to torture guys like me. ;)

I just saw a study where where most Americans hate their jobs.....

No big surprise here. After years of neo deregulations and giving corporate America everything they have asked for the worker is getting the staff. The working conditions are worse, the hours are longer, the benefits are less and there is more stress.

Funny how people in "Socialists" Europe like their jobs a lot better.

I have to put on my nice face and go do event support for a Republican fundraising dinner featuring Mitt Romney's wife. How the f*ck did I get that assignment? What's even funnier is one of my tech crew's g@y. LOL - he'll have a grand ol time!

At least you guys can sit down and use a computer at work. :) I was working until an hour ago... The more time off other people have, the more work a breakfast cook has. :(
Six more months... :)

If you want to live The American Dream, move to Denmark!

Sad but true. Not for long though. You will drag them down too. A few irresponsible countries are hurting a bunch of us. Places like the UK and USA have HUGE income inequality issues and it's affecting them from top to bottom like an aggressive Cancer they don't understand until after it hurts them. And then you have complete reckless morons like whoever handled Greece money for the last 40 years. They drag down everyone around them because of their arrogant irresponsible behavior. That sense of entitlement is just right out of control.

For ****'s sake, dude...read the dates on the posts. The explosion was a couple of days ago. YES, I was right by it, and YES, it sucked.

But right now we have bigger problems because some stupid MP decided to go ahead and represent all of us by being an ass.

Any time one soldier screws up overseas, it affects all soldiers in that area.
Sometimes it's not even just soldiers that it affects.
2 marines and 1 navy guy sexually assault a young girl in Okinawa and 20,000+ Air Force & dependents end up paying for it (curfews, hostile relations with locals, etc).

Yes I understand this. And I certainly understand the ramifications of poor behaviour overseas. I was asking an idle curiosity question regarding the specifics of Drake's statement. :)

Crikey, it's really making waves.
Every newscast.

anyway:

“Those who find ugly meanings in beautiful things are corrupt without being charming. This is a fault. Those who find beautiful meanings in beautiful things are the cultivated. For these there is hope. They are the elect to whom beautiful things mean only Beauty. There is no such thing as a moral or an immoral book. Books are well written, or badly written. That is all.”

Why were they burning the books? Was it all holy books or was it a bunch of old books with some holy books? If it was mixed I can see how that would seem normal to some low ranking latrine cleaner but if it was all holy books WTF were these people thinking? Are they so far removed from reality and basic reasoning to see how this would be offensive? Whether they are justified in being offended is beside the point. Whether they over react or not is beside the point. The reality is that doing these things is like swatting a hornets nest. Surely somebody in the chain of custody knew this was a bad idea to be done in the open in front of locals. I mean just how stupid were these people? It doesn't take a fukcing PHD to understand just how bad of an idea that was. I think it's having that staying power in the media because of the sheer stupidity involved. And those poor beyond stupid guys who were stupid enough to follow some really stupid orders from a really stupid person, I really kinda feel sorry for them. They must have sh1t themselves when the natives started freaking out. It must have been very confusing for such a small mind.
