......... any advice from any of the pro's.

Only accept advice from people with links to their blogs or their websites.

All other information is useless and should be therefore considered as absolute dribble.

Best of luck.

Hmm... don't let your knees go past your toes in front stance... can hurt your knees after a while. Seems to be the biggest noob mistake I generally see as they're so focused on the hand movements they don't pay attention to the lower body much.

Well, I certainly can't speak for any of the pro's.....

But as a recent newbie myself, I can say you will get about 16 thousand opinions here and none will be the same... taijiquan/Tai Chi Chaun is just about the most complicated "thing" I have ever done; and many opinions about the same thing can all be right.... or wrong..... and many times there is no right or wrong, which is very confusing to a new guy....

And frankly, much of qi gong is like taiji; so you may be a whole lot closer than you think. As you already know - what probably motivates you - is that taijiquan will give you the ma apps that qi gong doesn't.

So my non-pro advice would be to immerse yourself in the beginner form and just let it be... then when you have it inside your mind to your instructors' satisfaction - come back and add in the ma apps on top. Unless you are a super-student that is...

Either way, whether he takes advice or doesn't take advice he is still taking advice!
