I wonder if any praying mantis practitioners could look on the main kung fu forum about my xingyi vs. praying mantis topic and discuss it. Thanks.

Beng chuan/Crushing Fist to the privates! Now that would hurt! :-)

Like I said, I've taken both. But both were part of 2 mixed cirriculums. In fact, the first cirriculum I studied had some various mantis forms in it; and both styles were my favorite in the collection of styles taught.
I hope Sifu Albright (Law Clansman) replies on this issue; because I think he's got a lot to offer.
In my opinion, this argument seems to be: "are the light on their feet mantids afraid of the stomping hsing-yi men?".
Personally, I think a lot of techniques in mantis could be feared by hsing-yi practisioners and vice versa.

I've got a lot of "bread and butter" techniques - techniques I practise a lot, feel comfortable doing, do quickly, and I think can get in on most people - in both styles.

Though the sets look incredibly different, the application is the same to me.
