I did and I have increased my productivity by leaps and bounds at home!

After deactivating my account:

1) I finished a painting!

2) I wrote a song!

3) I fully remembered and brought back into practice a form I was having trouble with.

4) My Gwoon is spotless!

5) I've doubled my time for memory work that I do as part of my travellin man doings

6) I spend more time with my animals and get more walks in with Dog!

7) I generally have more quality home time

Thanks facebook, you have taught me something about myself and now, I will carry on without you.

:)

Since you have freed up enough time to accomplish all that, just think how much you could accomplish if you quit hanging out on this forum. I spend way too much time here myself, and I know that some people actually live here. They have to cause they are here 24 hours a day.

well, i don't "hang out" on this forum.

I check in, check out with about the same frequency as i get email.
most times, it's a lull in the office or an email check at home, so actually, i don't waste too much time here.

besides, this is a kungfu place, not some social networking palooza. lol

dropping all martial arts forum...ready, set, go!:D

you first! :D

I used to moderate this one long ago and far away. :)
Also, this forum doesn't sell info to other people as far as I know and doesn't advertise a bunch of irrelevant stuff, is filled with people that are pretty much in the same line of interest ie: martial arts.

Anyway, social networking is an entirely different animal than a discussion forum.

It's not all black and white.

Hey, I got into the Facebook thing relatively late but it is a great place to meet people who like my kind of music and I have met some interesting ladies there too.

So, I won't be cancelling my account, yet.:D

LOL,

The way things are going here, Gene will soon have to diversify and start an "Adult Knucklehead Friend Finder", site. LOL

That way the kung fu guys here will be left to interact in peace, while the glorified kickboxer knuckleheads will have a place to get romantic and discuss their man-grappling techiques. :D

If the back end wears the hat, what does the front end wear, a scarf?

ya. face book or book of faces was suggested to me

so I opened an account last year.

I only have one friend.

I think the idea of using fake name and saying whatever you want on the internet

book of change I mean book of faces

you have to post real you and talk with real friends on the internet

sort of contra ideas

---

any way I am still on page 1 with 1 friend. it is not a book but a page--

my kids have over 100 friends with faces

--

In short, if you do not have a face, you do not exist-- or may be ignored on the internet.

Yes, I can see how it would be of service to a company.
I can even see the benefits of it.
But for me, those benefits were outweighed by the detriments. :)

You should have a prominent link in the Forum to these locations... you know "Marketing".

It's great for marketing for sure. Another platform to announce our latest publications and sling our product is always welcome, especially with the current print publishing climate (http://ezine.kungfumagazine.com/forum/showthread.php?t=52868).

No disrespect, but that is not prominent.
If it was me, I'd have it at the top of every forum... in red.

On facebook, it makes sense to use your real name and picture. You can't network and meet people of similar interests if you are just a ghost.:)
