OMG that's hilarious - and bold as hell - I mean it looks like it's an older movie where you'd never see that kind of thing at all.

Please please tell us the name of that movie. I must own it!

so is snuff and kiddie porn.

just sayin.

when images are presented without proper context, it is folly to expect everyone to accept them for anything more than face value.

At face value the imagery portrayed is highly offensive.

In context, it is part and parcel to a wider story, which is NOT expressed contextually at all with the presentation of the image of man elbow striking a women who was being a little forward.

My big problem with this imagery is that more women don't act like that. :D

why do you have a problem with it.

In context, the woman getting hit is a prostitute.

To the best of my knowledge, all prostitutes behave in this manner as a ways and means of soliciting for the paycheck. ;)

First: IT'S A MOVIE.
Second: I know the context, I read it was a movie, i went on the web and verified it was a movie. A previous post said it was a movie and what it was. If you took that as real then your idea of reality is a little off.
Now if I happen upon a 'snuff' film or child porn then i know it for what it is. the quality isn't that sharp, there is no hidden agenda, they are there for one purpose, the emotions are different than most movies, etc.

Anyways, people get to up tight over things that aren't even real IMO.

For the sake of it...because what the hey. :)

You say it yourself, you add the disclaimer that you realize it isn't reality etc etc and then to clarify further about "if you happen upon..."

so, one persons morality kicks in at the display of the strong defeating the weak as some form of entertainment.

Yours kicks in at the severity of what is displayed according to your own moral compass.

I think everyone gets that it's a movie, but as you know, not all movies are favoured by all people, and when some things, especially of an inflammatory towards social mores type thing, is shown, some people view it with that eye and deem it unacceptable.

Yourself on the other hand are declaring that you are more tolerant of even more violent imagery so long as you understand it's fiction as opposed to taking it for what the underlying aspect is. the subversive part, that believe it or not, you had no control over as a child when your moral compass was being set.

muwhahahahaha.

anyway, we get that it's a movie. It's not about that, it's about moral relativity.
Some are offended and deem it inappropriate, others tolerate it, others don't care at all and so on.
:p

Oh, humanity, will you never cease to amaze? With all your variety and such.
Still, some weeds must be plucked no matter your compass, and if you haven't one, it's likely you'll be the weed. :D

matter of perspective as you say. :) I know we all get it. I'm just commenting on anothers post, and the difference between my perspective and the one they present.

So you chose the middle ground then??

Signifying what? that you, believe it or not, as a child, you apted to hide in the background not taking a side in confrontation?

Ah the twists of human nature as you said. amazing and decrepit in one sentence. :)

But i could be totally wrong on all accounts. I try not to judge people, I walk my path. :D (although sometimes its hard not to judge, considering the nature of humans and all that jazz) :p

I think perhaps you see the 'real' differently than I do.

What is real to me is a couple of blokes laughing about violence against women.

More specifically, martial artists laughing at the strong abusing the weak.

I think my opinion is relevant, and certainly on topic.

If I saw it happen in a movie, as part of a broader statement, that's one thing, but that's not the case in this situation, and simply a rationalisation, and a backtrack.

To see a bunch of guys laughing about it in isolation, indicates to me the belief that on some level or another, it is acceptable, and even funny.

Sorry I don't think it is funny, or acceptable. My moral indignation is simply my opinion, and hopefully the validation for others as well, that it isn't funny or acceptable in principle, regardless.

Dude!!! Lighten up...have you ever heard of the Three Stooges!

You don't see men going around poking each other in the eyes, hitting each other with frying pans, kicking each other in the butts, slapping each other silly and going Wooow, Wooo, Woooo Wooo all day long!

That's why we call it PRETEND!!!!!!

yes i do see it differently, not meaning I think violence against women is funny. That could have been a midget in a wheel chair and i would have thought the same thing.
Don't take life so seriously. your opinion is yours i nod in recognition.

Is it me or are the vectors off in that scene?
It looks like the elbow is coming from the southwest direction of the head. The woman falls backward from the force of a north hit.

While the damage done in this clip of short power is not great, it does however show great promise:
