PR, for those who don't know, is not a winner takes all election system, but one in which a party getting x% of votes gets x% of the seats. It has been shown to be the quickest way to give disenfranchised groups a role in government, so that a group representing a large part of the population will likely see a good per cent of seats, including minorities, including women. It tends towards many parties, and tends to require efforts accross partisan lines.

In my opinion, at least in the short term, the Republicans would be the big winners. Idealogically they are more monolithic, there would be some who defect to religiously based parties and some who defected to old style conservative parties, but the dems would see more splits. The GOP's main problem would be consensus building accross party lines.

This is, of course, idle discussion, I just enjoy anything that involves screwing the two parties.:D
